Do Not Jump To Judgement
The first time I needed to use an Instant Cold Pack, it was not an easy experience in order to get to Cold. I would squeeze according to the directions with immense pressure equally distributed around the circumference of the Pack, ( as an aside, I was a combat medic in VN and have been strength training since I came home. Ergo, I will attest to the durability of the Instant Cold Pack ) to continue, it was No Joy for Cold , even after I massaged the granules into place. My second try was a lot more fruitful. Same pack, this was for the Church so I could not waste them. Same routine, but now, I really was aggressive with the movement of the granules and, after about a minute, The Eagle Had Landed ! Also, the pack stayed in tact, no tears or leaks, and the cold was really cold and remained usable to reduce pain and swelling. Now, I am not advocating for an eight hour cold pack treatment. The normal rules for cold pack therapy are in place, of course. We do not want to reduce pain and cause frost damage to the skin. By staying cold for so long, eight hours by my timing, a break from use can be taken without having to use another pack when therapy is recontinued. By staying cold for so long, one pack can treat more than one site. Three different sites was the best I could do using 10-15 minute treatment time per site. Now, I think that I have an answer to the people who found it a negative to have to manipulate the pack for so long before reaching an excellent level of cold; Please consider the following: 1) The manipulation time will allow you to calm down and focus on something else besides the pounding in your head, 2) also, it will give you a little time to talk to the Little One and calm his fear. After such a short time, one minute, you will be looked at as a magician. 3) you have a little time to calmly eyeball the injured child and assess the damage and act accordingly. This is an excellent product that I was going to scrap because it did do what I wanted fast enough. The extra time certainly led to long term usability and that is the BIG plus.

Great for traveling
I purchased these cold packs for an overseas trip I took in Feb/March. I was on a tour with 34 other people and there was a lot of walking. I have knee and ankle issues and wore braces while out and about, but I still needed to ice in the evenings. These ice packs did the trick. The cold didn't last as long as I'd like, but it was enough to help keep my knees and ankles from swelling and helped with the strain/pain. When I cracked the first one open, it took a lot of strength and I was worried I'd break it wide open - but it didn't and thus I figured out how to best get the cold activated. These were certainly worth the cost and I'll buy them again and use them when I travel the next time (especially if there will be a lot of walking).

Not Cold Enough
It's really hard to pop in inner packet, I had to fold it in half and step on it to activate the chemical reaction inside the pouch. I shook it and applied it. It gets cold but only for 5 minutes, I kept shaking it trying extend the cold life of the pouch and that didn't help. The biggest problem is that there is more air in the packet than cold liquid. The air makes it hard to actually feel the cold in the packet because you're mostly applying a pouch of air on yourself. I'm definitely not buying these again, they don't come close to a regular freezer ice pack, the least they could have done was put more of the cold liquid in the pack. I bought these for students when we are at a sports facility and for when it's super hot and I need something cold to cool off while away from the freezer. My battery powered fan and rotating freezer ice packs will do.

Hot Flash Relief
I carry these for hot flash relief. They're great for this purpose, but I found that the cold temperature starts to wear off after about 5-10 minutes.

Can't squeeze 'em? Slam 'em!
I've purchased two boxes of these now (wife with 3 broken ribs from an accident). The first box, the packs could be broken by folding every time. Never had an issue, but did have to squeeze hard and in the right spot to break the inside packs. The second box, I opened when my wife was in pain and needed a pack very quickly. I go to grab one of the new ones, squeeze it, and it wouldn't break. Could not get it to squeeze that little pack that's supposed to break inside. Tried a 2nd one, also would not break on folding! A 3rd one. Same! I was very frustrated because my wife was in pain, and in that moment, I threw 2 of the packs flat against the floor. I go to pick it up to toss in the trash, and THEY'RE BOTH COLD! Turns out that was just perfect to break the packs inside. Now, I throw em against the floor every time (make sure they land flat). You can relieve a little frustration stress without having to squeeze really hard! Definitely recommend because they are convenient, don't perspire like freezer ones, and, now with knowing I can toss them around to open them, are kinda fun!

Hard to activate.. but did chill instantly.
Like one other review mentioned.. it is much easier to place on the floor and gently step on to activate. I tried the twisting method and it DID NOT work for me at all! Could have been the fact that the pain was in my elbow, but either way it was just really hard to pop the inside packaging. I did think I may have burst the entire bag by the sound, but it was much easier to step on it. And once activated it went cold immediately. It was chill for just under 14 minutes. Not sure I will purchase again. :(

Great Product!
These worked really well for me last year for summer camp - used for myself and others. Great to have on hand - Ordered them again this year! As to being difficult to activate - had that problem as well with some of the packs. If I cannot activate them by hand, I fold the pack in half, place it on the floor and apply pressure SLOWLY with my foot until the activator pack inside pops

Good deal for the price
My box of 24 arrived today. The bags were a little smaller than I expected but that's my fault for not reading the description where it shows the sizes. I opened the box and took one out. I squeezed and twisted and it started to feel a bit cold but I never heard anything pop. It was cold but not as cold as others I've used. Then I decided to read those with a one star rating. Most seemed to be the same complaint as mine. It didn't stay cold long enough and they felt it had already been popped. So, I took the one I was using and this time, I REALLY squeezed it and sure enough, I heard a pop and instantly, it got very cold. I applied it to my ankle and set the timer. It stayed cold for 13 minutes. That's really not so bad. When it got warm, it was all at once. The bottom line here is, it was my fault for not pressing hard enough to make the inner bag pop. I'll know better on the next one. From what I see now, I would buy these again.

Se ve súper bien!
Es un producto que dura poco 10 min Max, pero a los pacientes si los deja con el ojo cuadrado se lo moderno que es el sistema de frío químico.
