ecobee Smart Sensor for Doors & Windows 2 Pack for Home Security

Sensors work but keep I mind that the “motion” part responds to movement faster the longer it goes without seeing any movement. If it sees constant motion it is slower to show up on the activity list.

I am still not able to use these devices. The setup is not easy at all. Y9u follow the instructions still doesnt co nect were they can ve used in my home

The sensors themselves are very well built and are very easy to setup. They also seemed a bit overpriced for what you get perhaps 20 to 25 dollars per sensor would be more appropriate than 40 dollars per sensor. Also it seems to require a Ecobee Haven subscription to make any use of them and for me not having an Ecobee camera it just doesn't make sense. I am currently using Ring Cameras and already have a subscription for that so I don't really need another subscription just to receive notifications from these sensors. Also they sensors don't seem to support IFTTT. What would make these sensors a whole lot useful is if Ecobee enabled their use without a Haven subscription or lowered the cost of the subscription for people not using the cameras. Also it would be really nice if they enabled IFTTT support with them, in my opinion that would make them a whole lot more useful.

I recently installed an ecobee thermostat to control the mini split in my garage and I was looking for a way to force the mini split to turn off when a garage door is open. I thought I had found an acceptable solution with these smart door sensors that interface with the ecobee thermostat. Upon installing them they worked perfectly, however I got a popup stating that my ecobee security trial had started. Thinking that this was just an add on feature and not something that would prevent me from using the door sensors to pause my minisplit I ignored it. Well now that my return window has closed, the ecobee security trial ended, and I found out that it is going to cost an additional $4.99 a month just to use the "pause heating/cooling" feature. At this point the $60 I paid for these is worthless without a monthly $4.99 subscription. However, I highly doubt that I would even save the $4.99 a month in heating/cooling costs. Overall I feel ecobee should not charge for this feature, and I wish I realized the monthly subscription was required for the HVAC pausing feature because I would have never purchased these.

When I changed out my 23 year old furnace/ac it was also long overdue to change out the thermostat. I have been very pleased with the Ecobee thermostat and remote sensors that can be paired with it and placed around the house. It came with one sensor and I bought and additional pair of the sensors to spread around upstairs and be able to weight the averaging for AC purposes more heavily based on the up stairs rooms. I like the ability to check the temp in the various rooms of the house thanks to the sensors and set the thermostat up or down as needed, even when I am out of the house.

I've long avoided door and window sensors because most of them have an ear-splitting alarm built in, and while I understand the reason for that, I'd rather my dog not be traumatized every time I accidentally set it off. So these ecobee contact sensors are actually pretty perfect for me -- without the monitoring subscription. They're simple to set up, I don't need to change the batteries often, and they do nothing more than send a notification to my phone when the door/window is opened or closed. That's it, and that's the main thing I need from them. For everyone else... Well, you're probably going to find them useless without a subscription. If you pay for their monitoring subscription, the sensors can alert you to motion, turn off your HVAC if a door or window is left open, tell you when someone's home, and remind you to arm the system when you're leaving. Without the subscription, you get none of that, so keep that in mind when considering whether to purchase. Granted, the subscription's pretty cheap, but it is extra money you'll be spending each month.

Easy to install and reliable so far

I bought the ecobee Smart Sensor for Doors & Windows (2-pack) to add an extra layer of awareness to my home, and so far it has worked exactly as expected. Setup was straightforward through the ecobee app and only took a few minutes. The sensors paired quickly and were easy to mount with the included adhesive. They are small and discreet, so they don’t stand out on the door or window frames. Notifications are fast and reliable. I like being able to see when doors or windows are opened or closed, especially when I’m not home. I actually use the pair on two roll-up garage doors, which sometimes open randomly, and getting instant alerts gives me real peace of mind knowing I can check and close them right away if needed. Battery life has been good so far, and the app shows battery status clearly, which is helpful. Integration with my existing ecobee system was seamless and didn’t require any extra hubs beyond whatmy ecobee thermatstat. Overall, this is a solid and dependable product if you already use ecobee or are looking for simple contact sensors for home monitoring. It does what it’s supposed to do and feels well made.

I've few sensors from Ecobee site and they worked really well. I thought of purchasing one from Amazon but they didn't work well. One of them took multiple tries (almost a couple of hours) to get it detected and worked, but the other one didn't even detect after so many trials. I would recommend to buy it from Ecobee website itself, rather than purchasing from Amazon (trying to reduce the price for sales but Amazon forgot to give the genuine produts)

Really easy to connect and integrate in to the system. Would have been nice if they could also measure temperature as it would vastly decrease the number of sensors required.

As a long time ecobee thermostat user, I was intrigued to explore their venture into home monitoring. The 2-pack door and window sensors were easy and intuitive to install. Unlike other similar sensors that I've had over the years, the magnetic sensor has extremely long range making it easy to install on doors or windows with large gaps between the frame and the door. A combination of the mobile app instructions and a blinking LED on the sensor helped get the position perfect. My thermostat is pretty far from the doorways in my home, so I was worried the wireless range wouldn't be long enough for the sensor to reach - but it turned out to be just fine! I've started the free trial for home monitoring and so far so good. My existing SmartSensors and the new door and window contact are all working seamlessly together! I like that the home monitoring does not require a hub to arm and disarm the alarm system - somehow, it just seems to know when I'm home and when I'm away. I've configured it to receive notifications to my cell phone whenever motion is detected in my home or when a door opens or closes. The system works flawlessly! I'm keen to add their camera sometime in the future.
