Sobbing in my kitchen lol
*Disclaimer this is my husbands Amazon but it’s his wife writing this which is why it’s so sappy lol* I bought this book because we’re doing adoption announcement photos this week and I thought it would be cute having our son sit and act like he’s reading a book like this in a few of the pictures. I didn’t really look into it much I just needed something that would be here next day and the cover is what really mattered for this and I’d find something specific later. I wanted to flip through and see because my son can read so if it was all about being a big brother to a newborn and all the birth/hospital stuff, I might’ve tried to find a specific page to open to for pictures or change the book as we’re probably adopting a slightly older child (2-3) and I didnt want him to get confused as this has been a change in our plan (but God’s plan for sure. We are VERY excited to be adopting). I started looking through and immediately saw the ultrasound page and thought okay maybe this isn’t for us. Excitement is our main and strongest emotion through this, but if you’ve ever walked through infertility you know it’s about as complex as it gets with the range of emotions you face. Anyway, I flip to the next page and it’s all about meeting their baby through adoption at a home visit. Which is why this is review is titled sobbing in my kitchen 😂 Including all ways of growing a family means more than anyone could know so I just had to leave a review because it truly makes such a difference.

Let's talk about being a big brother
This book aims to address various anxiety provoking situations that might arise before and after the birth or adoption of a sibling to a boy of approximately kindergarten age. Using the voice of an older male, the author addresses each of the possible situations. For each scenario the author the author addresses what might be on the boy's mind under 2 topics. First, "what can we do together," activities for the boy and his parents and activities for the boy and the new sibling. Second, "what do I think," anxiety provoking thoughts as well as what the future might be like. The topic is a relevant one and is presented with helpful suggestions as well as advantages of being a big brother. The publisher provided a copy of the book. The opinion is mine.
