The highs are nice and mellow, as even the music I was scared to listen to (for the life of my ears) came through high and clear. I will tell you that I own these towers, I have to whole 7.1 svs setup in my theater and from sampling many speakers or a much higher price point. These are by far the best bang for your buck. I would recommend a receiver with about 110 output. I have a Denon AVR-X2500H powering them and I believe it is only a 95 watt output. I have to have it pretty high to listen a better levels. The svs speakers efficiency is a small downfall and another reason why the volume has to be cranked a bit more. **Q: How do these speakers sound with using a turntable/listening to vinyl?** A: I can't tell you about vinyl but cd's and mp3's sound great. **Q: Has anyone compared these to the elac towers ?** A: I listened to the Elac Towers at my local big box retailer and found the SVS Prime's to more crisp on the high end.
