DOES WORK WITH KVM
I'd give this more stars if it actually worked... But it did not work for me, the only reason why I got is because I need a KVM switch connection... Few people chimed in that they were successful at connecting it. However, I did not have that luck... Update... I ended up another brand new DP cable. For whatever reason it does not like the cable I purchased... I think cable should be included from this company for this price... Even if it's 3' cable.

It actually works!
This review is for the HDMI to Displayport adapter. This thing is awesome!! Keep in mind I've only had it for like 2 days. Surprisingly it works for a 1080p 144Hz monitor and allows it to run at 144Hz with 4:4:4 color. I believe this means the HDMI input is actually an HDMI 2.0 I tested and it IS HDCP compliant. I have not had any trouble with it so far. Literally connect and go. It is completely independent of the software, so you could use this to connect an HDMI Blu-ray player to a Displayport monitor. It does require 5V power from a USB port or wall adapter (not included). Tempted to buy another in case this one goes out or I need another somewhere else. Highly recommend!!! UPDATE: For my computer the adapter runs on the HDMI power alone, no need to connect to a USB port, but ymmv. I've been using this in conjunction with an HDMI switch for a week or two and sometimes when switching back an forth between PCs, I'll have to power cycle the monitor to get a picture back. This may be an issue with the one specific Windows 10 PC, since it only happens with that one computer. Also, it does not work with the Monoprice 2x1 Displayport switch. I'm guessing it is an issue with this converter, but not sure as each product works when used by itself, just not together. Link to the switch is here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074KT689K/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Does exactly what you need it to do. I'm actually amazed. Well done.
I have two PCs hooked up to a new, 2K monitor. This is one of the cheapest 2560x1440 monitors you can buy... the BenQ gw2765ht. The monitor works best with DisplayPort connections. I tried using HDMI with my Windows PCs and it works, but the brightness and contrast are wacky. Light greys on white (as in menu highlights) are absolutely invisible. So what I'm saying is that my monitor demands a DisplayPort connection. So I bought a KVM switch that uses DisplayPort exclusively. My gaming PC has a DisplayPort connection, so that's fine. But my desktop does not because it is a tiny micro form factor Alienware machine. It only has HDMI in the back. The answer was this beauty of a cable. It turns an HDMI port into a DisplayPort and it works flawlessly. I plugged it into my Alienware and then plugged my KVM DisplayPort cable into it and BOOM... it works absolutely perfectly. The image on the monitor is crystal clear and pixel perfect. There is no indication that any sort of signal translation is occurring or anything like that. It just works. It is quite expensive as a small little cable, but dang it works exactly as I was hoping.

These work in a complicated KVM environment
I run with two KVM's to support 4 Monitors. I have a work laptop and I am using multiple USB to DVI to HDMI adapters along with the HDMI port on the laptop. My PC has 3 Display ports and 1 HDMI connection. Previously everything was running through HDMI KVM's, but the best frame rate I could get was 75 since that was the limitation of the KVM's. I bought a new Display port KVM to get the frame rates my video card could produce and I couldn't get it to work with my laptops connections. Turns out that HDMI to Display Port cables are unidirectional and would not work. I bought two of these adapters to (hopefully) run my two primary monitors that I am using through fast display port for my home PC and they worked...mostly. My 27 inch monitor worked perfectly once I gave these adapters enough USB power. Without strong power, I was getting blackouts and strange blue lines. Connecting it to a strong USB power source fixed that. I have a 35 inch display that natively is at 3440x1440. My home PC that is display port through all connections works fine. My laptop when running through the other adapter cannot display that resolution properly. It shows that as 2560x1440 and has dead space on the top and bottom of the display. Good enough. It is working and I can live with that one being a little bit off since I have full display port to these two Monitors on my home PC. Overall these worked great with this KVM and I am back to working with all of my displays.

Works beautifully
This was used to connect a nice old Samsung SyncMaster S27A850D 27" 1440p monitor to a new computer with integrated graphics. The old monitor had display port and DVI but no HDMI. The new computer motherboard had only HDMI. I first tried an HDMI to DVI adapter. Unfortunately, they all seem to be limited to 1080p. My wife was not happy because she likes running her games at 1440p. The solution was this adapter. I also had to buy a 6' display port cable. I first made sure the bios was set to start with integrated graphics. Then I shut the computer down. I plugged the adapter's HDMI plug and USB power plug into the computer. I ran the display port cable to the computer. I started the computer, and voila, everything worked. Graphics quality is excellent, just as nice as with a discrete video card. 1440p is crystal clear. Also, this adapter is small, lightweight and not bulky. It easily fits behind the computer. It's a little expensive, but much cheaper than buying a new monitor.

Works with a KVM
I got this to use with a KVM and it works. (Most other HDMI to DP converted say they don't work with KVM.) I needed a newer DP cord with it, the DP cords I've had for years did not work with it.

Had an extra monitor lying around at work with only DisplayPort inputs. Problem is my PC only had HDMI output. Was trying to determine a way to get this connected as it is a nice monitor. I had some doubts as to whether it would work but it works perfectly and gives me an extra monitor to work with. Picture quality is stellar. Been using it for about 3 weeks now with no problems.

Needed a HDMI to DP cable for my work from home setup...had a look high and low for the right solution and came across this on Amazon. Works a treat and is a very elegant and high quality solution. Highly recommended!

I wrote a review mainly for the Iogear GCS1904 and had problems with my 2014 mac mini and Zotac BI320 PC computers using non-active monitor converter adapters. Once I hooked these up with this adapter, it took a few seconds but I was able to get them to work with my Iogear GCS1904. It's not ideal and costs extra money but I got the GCS1904 to make things easy to switch computers at a touch of a button while using the same Keyboard, Video monitor, and Mouse (KVM) for all 4 of my computers.
