Is this mixer food safe?

I just use it to mix (water-based) paint, for which it works fine. That said, cooking is a serious hobby for me, and I see no reason it would not work to mix food safely (it is metal and a rubber-like substance). I'd advise playing it safe and not mixing anything really hot, though. The pot/container with the food would have to be deep enough so it didn't spatter food when in use, also.

Is the mixing end flexible? I'm wondering if it would fit into a standard gallon jug.

Yes it is very flexible and will fit in even a quarter sized paint can. It's about 3 inches across. It's like a neoprene rubber or something. Stiff but not to stiff.

What size is the shank?

The shank portion is 8" long and the mixing portion is 2.5". Hope that helps and thanks for your interest in our mixing bit.

Does this attachment work for a dremel?

Unfortunately the Dremel only accepts bits with a special smaller size shank. The shank on our mixer is 3/8" which won't fit in most standard Dremel Tools. Hope that helps and thanks for your interest in our mixer.

Good Product

I ordered this when I needed to touch up paint in my bedroom (I had an unopened car of the now-discontinued color that had been sitting around quite a while and which I knew would need more than just stirring). This worked VERY well, and with my bright-pink "women's" drill, not a heavy-duty drill. It was easy to wash off, too

Great standard mixer for a variety of uses

This is a pretty simple tool. Attaches directly to a drill to mix product. I've only used it for chemical mixes for yard application, but it is a well designed blender, sturdy and does exactly what you hope for. Depth was perfect for a 5 gallon spray tank. Imagine it would be exceptional for a quick re-blend of paint.

Works well, wears over time

Great mixer bit, ideal length and width for my application (mixing silicone in 5 gal buckets). That said with frequent use the chuck on my drill has worn the hexagonal shaft down, so the bit will skip under a lot of torque and even slips out of the chuck into the silicone, no matter how much I tighten the chuck down on it, which is a bit annoying. It's inexpensive enough to have multiple on hand, so no biggie. Great otherwise!
