It flips up. **Q: Will this lens hold up to sand blasting?** A: Depending on how close You are. I had a direct hit from a small rock shooting out from a landscaper and it didn’t make a mark on the lens. Easy changeout for the shield 'lens;', Provides extra support and protection relative to the basic frameless shields, while being MUCH more comfortable, is a big plus when using a grinder or wire brush. Trust me. Worth it. You DO NOT want to go to the ER to have a wire removed from your eye. It is worse than it sounds. I can STILL feel it twenty years later. (the z87 safety glasses are why I still have an eye at all, but a shield like this would have prevented the issue) Don't forget to wear you glasses underneath, as well.
