Better than a charcoal pencil!
Needed to make a temporary grid on a sweater. Ive never worked worked with fabrics before, but i did find this tool extremely simple to use! Just DONT unscrew the cap first time unpacking it. Vertical lines in the image are made with a charcoal pencil. Horizontal libes are made with this tool. The horizontal lines are much clearer, sharper, and took way less effort to make. Its not too thick, its comfortable to use, it functions very well, and i highly recommend it for the current asking price (under $4 usd).

Best Chalk Marker Ever โ Precise, Easy, and No Sharpening Needed!
I discovered this chalk marker while helping my daughter sew horse show stall curtains, and I loved it so much I had to get one for myself. It has loose chalk inside with a small wheel that dispenses as you draw, creating a fine, slender line that makes cutting straight lines so much easier. Itโs comfortable to hold, easy to use, and no sharpener is needed. Great value for the money - this has quickly become my absolute favorite chalk marker!

Exactly what I needed
Received quickly. It is exactly as described. I wasnโt sure how this really worked, so for those who need extra details. There is a wheel at the bottom of this โpenโ that when you press to your fabric it roles out the powdered chalk which is in the barrel of the โpenโ. The chalk color shows well on all color, except yellow since it is the same color as the chalk. This item makes nice continuous stripe that is fine but enough to see, maybe 1 mm. This item works perfectly and fit my need 100%.

More for wovens than knits
Great for using on woven fabrics, but not as good on knits as it requires significant friction to roll and therefore stretches the fabric. Still, would recommend for woven fabrics, but good to know what it's useful for!

hard to remove all the chalk
easy to use but difficult to remove the chalk. I tried it on a scrap piece just to see and it brushed off fine with my hand. Then put on my project and no such luck I was unable to remove all of it by hand a small brush damp towel nothing. I'm glad the tote bag was for myself and not a gift.

Best white fabric marker for quilting or sewing.
I have used many fabric white heat pens and chalk pencils. This tailors chalk item works the best. Highly recommend it.

Time Consuming Removal
I purchased this yellow chalk marker to help in making cozy bowls for Xmas gifts. I think I will resort to my old-fashioned chalk pencils that I have been using since high school. Yes, they may be a hassle to sharpen, but I can remove the marks with an eraser made just for that purpose or brush off with a stiff brush. Unfortunately, the wheel at the tip of the Madam Sew chalk marker got caught up on my batting. So, I decided to flip the project and mark on the right side of the fabric since the directions indicated all I need do is rub off the chalk marks or lightly wash away the lines when finished sewing. This did not happen for me. The clean fabric I used to rub off the chalk marks became stained with yellow, but did not completely remove the chalk from the front of my project. My presser foot became dusty with the chalk, and felt I had to clean out the bobbin case too. Washing the chalk from my project and the rubbing towel required more than just water. Dish soap did not work. I had to use laundry detergent and wash the entire project ad rubbing towel to remove the yellow tracings and rubbing marks. In addition, I had to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the yellow chalk that had discolored the top of my sewing machine insert. This simple hall tool required more work than I wanted when trying to meet a gifting deadline. I could return it, but I do not want to go through the hassle. I am glad that I had ordered just one for trial purposes. I do not have the patience to deal with this notion that is supposed to help, but makes more work for me.

Nice marker but a bit expensive.

I wasn't enjoying the standard chalk, and those marking pens that are supposed to vanish with heat from the iron don't always - and they sometimes stain other items. But this -- this is perfect! If it comes in other colours, I'll have to get some, as it doesn't show up as well on lighter fabrics. But this is a game changer, I love it!

Not Cheap and it took a little while t arrive. But so far the best tools I had. It doesn't sticks much on the fabrics we use, so you could easy remove it with a airy brush off attempt. The mark is really nice and fine for preciser work. Woudl buy again.

Very glad I bought this, it makes much more defined lines than a traditional pencil or chalk, and requires less pressure to apply it. Especially handy for people who work with black or dark fabrics a lot, or for when you need to be very precise such as hand embroidered shapes.

I wanted to use this to mark yarn for my amigurumi. Doesn't really mark the yarn enough. I'll keep it in my sewing kit.
