Keep in mind that during summertime downpours the amount of water coming out of your downspout may overwhelm them or if you have a considerably long gutter run. Mine are on a shorter section of maybe 50' and work perfectly during 80% of our rainfalls. When they are overwhelmed the still function but the water cascades over the edges opposed to draining out the bottom of each canister.. Not really a big deal, but sometimes it'll spray out to the sides. Still mot the end of the world. I really like these and plan on ordering another set for the other end of the house. Review: Lovely and well made - We love these. Had to buy 3 and we cut one in half and attached each half to the other two chains to make them long enough to go down into a large vessel that we filled with gravel. This really anchored the rain chains and they don’t move around . They make a lovely sound when it rains. Highly recommend ! ## Features - Dimensions: cup/link 2.25 in x 3.25 in; chain length 8.5 feet - Rain Chains Direct Quality Advantage: We use the highest quality materials and craftsmanship in the production of all our rain chains and accessories. But we also sell a gutter adapter separately as well, which would be used instead of the hanging hook. The gutter adapter (also called a "gutter installer") is a more robust way of hanging the chain, but both will work fine. **Q: are these considered small, medium or large in terms of how much water they can handle?** A: These are probably closest to a medium size for rain chains. But since it is an open system, it doesn't really get backed up if there is too much water flow. It simply flows over the sides of the cups. **Q: Can you use these on houses without gutters?** A: It will only be functional (catch runoff from your roof and direct it downward) if there is a way for the water to be funneled on to the chain. We have seen some people build a custom catchment system where two rooflines meet to funnel the water on to a chain. But short of a custom solution like this, on a house without gutters, it will usually only be decorative. **Q: Can a rain chain work with no gutter for roof crevice? Current Home does not have gutters.** A: We have seen this done, but you will most likely need to modify where the water runs off your roof in such a way that the water is captured by a receptacle and then funneled to the rain chain. There is no standard way to do this, but follow the link below, which is a google search, and you can get some ideas of how others have done this: https://www.google.com/search?q=rain+chain+without+gutter&newwindow=1&sxsrf=ALiCzsaV98l7_D6QqtVzM_PtgtSZL2xFWg:1652794804923&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&vet=1&fir=LzN6nOtTN9yIIM%252CFr07Ry1VrFCt_M%252C_%253Bc34qDITouN5kRM%252CFr07Ry1VrFCt_M%252C_%253BgM20GebSuGVrYM%252C20KUnlERrSay6M%252C_%253BoL5DvfV2BVMSJM%252CK4hDK1LyNysMeM%252C_%253B4AjUARSHchdTmM%252CK4hDK1LyNysMeM%252C_%253BwpjwqJVDe0ndOM%252CJOpM2IP5iTdj_M%252C_%253BzBqsWfzoQYrcIM%252CdZn2GGij6uEAwM%252C_%253BhGEClvb3eZwInM%252C0b2jc-mYcQvrXM%252C_%253B8b3_mVyoGcBKTM%252CKrqwnxcZLrSiiM%252C_%253BjXcRpizLPZGMiM%252COQXya9Dyn22F8M%252C_%253BGhbzpEZayLBmWM%252CBLYAWAooq7-keM%252C_%253Bu6oVxY92dMRU3M%252CqTAYhho6nqg0JM%252C_%253Baaa-sJcqQVAAbM%252CUnZ5jCfHpUOofM%252C_%253Br29zK7mSF81zGM%252CcYh_LNj_KQj-UM%252C_%253BZL5AIE-IqUrDXM%252CqqF2BK0xJitWvM%252C_%253BkhFexVx5mJ4JMM%252CtlAtPExkK__99M%252C_%253BwcgTrLBzO_xY6M%252Cf2ndQN3VBZl7ZM%252C_%253BTfqrsQeGmuh6JM%252Cu9FyklFlFGmNTM%252C_&usg=AI4_-kQC9vrRQpVSU8B7ZG17B1HKDLRykA&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiqn--51Ob3AhUrrmoFHRyBATYQ9QF6BAgCEAE#imgrc=LzN6nOtTN9yIIM ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Great decretive approach to an otherwise bland gutter.. *by C***E on September 23, 2025* These really stand out and work quite well during a light to moderate rainfall.
