3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil, 3 OZ

Worked great for my skate bearings and rock tumbler.

I've been using 3-IN-ONE at a friend's recommendation, for a couple of years now. I like the traditional bottle better than pressure cans which are less exact, spray too much oil and all over the place. Since you are more exact and less oil is wasted, it is better for the environment, and a single bottle have lasted me a couple of years now and is still half full. It is a bit more viscous than WD-40, but it penetrates into crevices and I believe it is still a relatively light oil. Perfect for partially exposed bearings among countless other use cases.

Smell reminds me of my grandfather. Use it as a WD-40 alternative, this is a bit more oily though. Cap strap broke on day 2, I've currently got a matchstick crammed in the tip as a plug. Wish the cap had been slightly easier to get off, forcing it off is what broke the cap strap. Bottle is decent size and easy to use, not one of those large jugs that is hard to maneuver. Comes out fast if you're not prepared, so be careful. I've removed the rust from pliers, quieted squeaky hinges, and used it as a cutting lube in a pinch. A nice, all-purpose lube.

Many uses for this oil. Works very well. Good value for the money for the size of the bottle.

During the winter 5 years ago we had freezing rain and my car doors were all frozen. My brother told me to use WD-40 around sides and in door handle. Fast forward of course 3 years later, same problem but I couldn't get to store for the WD-40, so I ordered the 3 in 1 and it worked perfectly.

I have used multi-purpose oils/lubricants before but not from the "3 IN 1" brand/company(which is owned by the people who make "WD-40"). It looks like cooking oil(yellowish - in color and appearance), other lubricants I tried were clear/colorless(X-1R which appears to be clear, I believe it is now sold as "PENN Reel Oil"). I tried this "3 in 1" oil on noisy doors and some are now quiet(this means the oil did its job). Can't comment on its anti-rust or cleaning properties at this point(will continue to experiment with this oil on different objects). It seems a bathroom door hinge that has been making annoying noises for years does not react to this oil(or others). It became muffled(quieter) but not completely quiet. The first 2 times opening it(after adding "3 in 1" oil) I did not notice it, but later the "eeew... kha kha kha" noise was again noticeable, it sounds like someone is hitting it with a hammer when I open the door, very annoying. X-1R oil did not help. I tried combining it with "3 in 1"(spraying WD-40 before adding both), same result. I next cleaned both out out with a cleaner, wiped off the area with rubbing alcohol, sprayed some WD-40, and added "3 in 1", after which I just let it be(the problem continues). The container/bottle is larger than I was expecting - I thought it would be like a tiny bottle of eye-drops(in reality it is almost the size of a small bottle of cologne). The instructions suggest to cut off the top of the spout, I instead made a small hole with a tack to control the flow of oil. The attached cap still fits on top. The cap is not securely held in place so it would need to be taped on if you plan on taking this bottle somewhere outside your home to avoid spills of oil. This oil seems to have/produce a smell/odor which "appears" in the location where you use it. It is not a gasoline smell, more like an insecticide(bug spray) and is noticeable up to several feet away. I don't know if it is caused by specific objects or metals but it requires some time to go away.

Does wonders on sharpened knives

I have been using this to get my very old model trains working again. I was sceptical about the claim that it cleans and lubricates, but I can with confidence say, that it actually works better than expected. Only need a little to get the train motors running like new. Really good product and easy to use with the convenient tip that only allow a little bit out at a time. Would recommend for hobbyist trying to get old parts running smoothly again. Would also be helpful for household DIY projects, like oiling door and window hinges and handles and outside work, like old gates and locks to clean up some rust and prevent future rusting. Good product, I am happy with it. Would buy again. Perfect size for hobbies. Well packaged with no leaks detected.

Just started skateboarding recently and my main frustration has been with bearings getting rusty after wet sessions (practising frequently while weather is not permitting.) I began by using alcohol to clean out my bearings and used bike chain lubricant. The cleaning was tedious and not completely effective and the chain lubricant (for wet conditions) was a bit too thick to let the bearings spin quickly. Since ordering 3-in-1, I have been able to both clean and lubricate my problem bearings with a few doses of this one product. De-rusting is more efficient than alcohol. After getting the bearings rolling, I try to wipe away as much debris as possible and just re-apply the 3-in-1 and repeat once or twice until the bearing is smooth. I'm sure bearing maintenance can be done more effectively with other methods, but the cheap cost of brand new bearings makes getting too invested in maintenance feel silly and this is a great way to keep your bearings running without replacing them multiple times a year or having to do a multi-step process after every exposure to water.
