Easy to setup, picks up well
We used a Bissell pet specific model of vacuum for the longest time until it died recently so we needed a new one. This one was our selection and it has been working rather well. It's powerful, easy to empty, and it has a lot of versatility in terms of its function given you can detach it from the body part.Setup was easy as you get all the main pieces and you just need to attach them together following the guide. It's also nice in the sense you see how that detachment piece functions so you're doing less guesswork when you want to utilize it. The detachment part is my favorite element as you can carry it up stairs more easily without a giant vacuum head piece banging around. In general it's a good vacuum that is a reasonable size, powerful suction, and easy to clean. I would recommend if you're in the market for a nice vacuum.

Top quality!
Just got my new Bissell 2998 yesterday and it’s already been used four times. It is light enough to lift from the box and assemble without instructions but I referred to them anyway. I like the way it all connects with a twist & lock or just a click without needing to refer to highly technical schematics. This is my third new vacuum in six years. Both prior vacuums, a Shark Liftaway and Bissell ClearView, still operate very well but my back and shoulders couldn’t take it any more. The ClearView is significantly more difficult for me to push, and the Shark is awkward. The new 2998 has fantastic suction and for some reason, I suspect it’s the closed HEPA filtration unit, it’s not pulling at my w-2-w carpet up the way the Shark did. Yet it’s powerfully extracting the finest dust particles! I’m just blown away by the power, quality, versatility, and most of all ease of cleaning. It came with an attachment for high dusting or hard to reach corners and the other for upholstery. I wish I had a before picture to share of my ottoman but I literally brought the original color back after two passes using the upholstery attachment. I also like that I can use the rollers or not and adjust for bare floors without having to bend or reach for the switch. The unit is more compact than most vacuums although it’s certainly weighty enough and it’s not made with cheap plastic. It’s actually a pretty appliance if you can believe it. I don’t know after so many months of searching, googling, using AI resources and finally the one embedded in the Amazon app - which I love! - I’m just so thrilled to finally have something to use that doesn’t make me feel my age. My back didn’t hurt once! I nearly selected a Eureka model for about $90 less, and for $200 more I could have the Shark Stratos that was in my cart for four days before finally finding this one. I made the right choice. Highly recommended!

4 stars for now
Expensive but I think it's going to be worth it.Pros:Great suction;I first did a through vacuuming with my last vacuum (which is super cheap ($) but great suction) then I vacuumed again the next day (so all dust settles as my cheap one is not hepa) with this new Bissell, there was dirt collected. I wouldn't say a huge amount 1\4 of bin, but enough to convince me that this Bissell does a great job picking up.HEPA filter works fantastic. There was zero dust particles in the air and especially on the front. That's the best indicator, if there is dust particles on the front that means it's not working very well.Lift off carry bin..When looking for vacuums I was not originally interested in the lift off bin. But now using it, I love it. It's sort of heavy for this 60-year-old male. But not unmanageable. The only thing I dislike and prevents it actually being great is the tools which I will give reason in the cons.Hardwood; One of the main reasons I bought this is because I have both carpet and hardwood. My last vacuum did a horrible job on hardwood as they would spit everything out the back. This Bissell does a fantastic job. I love the idea that you can turn the roller off. Plus that little rubber thing underneath preventing any spit back. It works incredibly well and I can just feel my hardwood floors cleaner walking barefoot on them. Plus you have the option of turning the roller on just to give your hardwood floors a little scrubbing LOL.This is a pro because I was concerned and it worked out great for me. The fact that there is no height adjustment was an issue I thought would be a hassle. My last vacuum has no height adjustment and I constantly have to fight it over the rug. But I took a chance with the Bissell. Seeing videos helped. It actually somehow works great. It's just at the right height. I also think the adjustment for low carpet or plush helps a lot. I have high carpet in my bedroom and it had no problem going over it. The only slight little issue which isn't really an issue is that for some reason on my low carpet if you go against the grain it kind of pulls, just a tiny little fight. But again nothing like I was concerned about. As a 60-year-old I don't want to have to fight with my carpet LOL.CONS:So far I only see 1 con and I'm hoping that it can be mitigated if Bissill has alternatives; The tools. I really do not like the dusting, crevice tool. The combination seems like it would be a benefit but for me it's just a hassle because the dustering part is cheap. Too thin (width) and I don't like the length. The crevice tool is fine on its own. And I really do not like that you have to detach the hand extension to use the tools for short jobs. The hand extension is not adjustable so it is really bad for doing jobs close up. Like cleaning your dryer lint compartment; Impossible. So I have to detach the hose just to use this tool.So all in all fantastic and four stars with only a deduction of one because of the tools. if Bissell has alternatives for this machine then a total five stars.

Good vacuum, cleans well if only it had....
First, this vacuum cleaner cleans very well and overall I'm happy with my purchase. I was surprised how dirty my rugs were! I had an old Bissell Pet vacuum - bought it about 10-12 years ago and it was still going strong, but evidently not as strong as I thought. The versatile attachments are great!Having the option to remove the canister is great for when you need it off the ground (like for stairs or very high ceilings). This is for when you'll be holding the canister - it'll tip over if you set it down and stretch the hose - that's just physics.Having the option to remove the wand (whether you detach the canister or not) is also great.Having the option to remove the hose and use it without the wand is also very useful for getting under things. The cord is plenty long and there is a cold holder on the handle for when in use and is very helpful. It doesn't retract - it's manual wrap on the side of the machine; but I knew that when I bought this and that doesn't bother me, it's just one more thing that could break.Emptying the canister is very slick! Now, what I don't like:The handle (which is also part of the wand) is very tall and doesn't lower for storage. I'm 5'9" and it just makes it a little more cumbersome to move around. Using it as a wand, detached from the machine, is a little off balance and on the heavy side. It could be balanced better to hold as a wand is all.As an upright vacuum it is on the heavier side - halfway between my old Bissell and my heavy-duty Hoover. It does not have auto-forward, so it's difficult to move around but I've found if I keep the brush on "plush" mode it helps propel it. It's on a swivel but is difficult to reverse out of, if that makes sense. The brush attachment I've used once and it didn't work all that well. It has holes on the sides which lessen the suction. I didn't see a way to close those. I may try putting tape over them to see if that helps. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think so.The stick attachment is nice with a retractable brush. I do wish it were longer, but my stick from my old vacuum fits so I'll just keep that around. So, as a "budget" vacuum I still give it a 4-1/2-star rating and, like our last Bissell, it seems like it will last a long time.

Absolutely Great!
I had a Bissell for about 5 years that stopped working. I guess maybe it was a clogged brush roller or broken belt.I did a ton of research on a new vacuum cleaner. As usual, there are always mixed reviews. I decided on this one because of the pet hair issue. We have 3 cats and the amount of hair that needs to be vacuumed is ridiculous. We recently had the carpet removed from the stairs, which was always difficult to clean.Today was the first use of this vacuum cleaner, and let me tell you, it's a great cleaner! Easy to assemble, much lighter than the previous one, suction is phenomenal, and so easy to use.I forgot it was a swivel type, and although I wasn't looking for that feature, it really is helpful. I like the power switch being close to the top, and the ability to turn off the roller is great for cleaning area rugs that can get sucked up. It even sucked up a cat toy by accident and was very easy to remove.I have a bad back, but this is very easy to use without any pain. The light definitely helps a lot too.I can't believe how much of a difference it made after just one use! The canister was full after just doing 2 rooms!Cleaning the machine is a breeze. Everything swirls around the center of the canister, and just falls out into the trash bag without having to pull it out like my last one.The cord rewinder would have been a nice feature, but that's about the only thing missing on this. Oh and the pet hair attachment is way more powerful than the previous one. Easy to clean that, too. Plus the HEPA filter is a definite necessity. All in all, I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner for everyone!Good job, Bissell!

Great vacuum
I had my "cheapest we could find" vacuum which still works after 7 years but it's time to upgrade as I noticed it doesn't clean the carpet so good. For comparison, I vacuumed a little bit with both vacuums and there's an obvious difference in how much it pickes up.So what I LOVED MOST about this vacuum is that the suction power is great, cleaning path is 13 inches, which is wide. I love that it's swivel, let's you manuver so comfortable around things. Cord length is longer than I had so for me it's an improvement,I no longer have to switch the outlets. Noise level is about the same for my both vacuums so I didn't notice big difference, but it's a vacuum, I don't expect silent mode)) You can turn the brush off so it doesn't rotate on the floor, which is cool. You can adjust suction for "plush carpet " or "low carpet".Also, Tangle free brush...well, let's be honest it's not completely free of hair but hell yes, there's tremendous difference how it was on my old vacuum...sometimes I had to clean the hair 2-3 times just to clean one room cuz there's 3 girls with long hair in the house. So don't expect it totally free of hair but it's pretty close to it and it's easy to clean. I love the lights...very helpful when small particles jumping around the brush so I know I need to give ot another pass. Normally, I wouldn't see it cuz I have bad eyes plus astigmatism so in bad lighting conditions I don't see good. Anti allergen filtration system is also important to my family as we are all allergic to dust. My air purifier usually indicates raise in air contamination when I vacuum...this time NOTHING, so I feel like the system does the job well. What I didn't like that it's pretty heavy...it's subjective but I checked the competitors, they all about the same weight. But it's not really complicating things for my back, even though my lover back is getting hurt often, the wheels move very smooth so the vaccum moves easy. I think it's my main complaint, I wish it was lighter. It has a very cool feature, the cord clip. But while it's super helpful you can see on my photo, just one day of use and it has a lot of marks, which over time will damage the cord...(smth to improve definitely). But overall it's an amazing vacuum, made my carpets clean and fluffy again.

I have NO idea what''s up with this model.
SORRY THIS IS SO LONG- EDITED WITH UPDATE ON JULY 6, 2023:After waiting for them to get back to me by 6/28/2023 (the date they gave me) I ended up calling them again on 6/29/2023 and for some reason I had to go through the issues all over again with a new customer service agent. They again went through ALL the same steps as before; take it to a service place, send it back and they would send me a new one, etc. At this point I told them I would like another model sent as I didn't have any confidence in this model. They agreed to send me another new model that was comparable; they had me look at it on the website while we were on the phone. I told them to send me a return label and I would send this one back and they could send me the new model. They then told me to "dispose of the machine". ??? Didn't they just tell me to send it back a minute ago? this makes me pretty sure they tried to fix the other one I sent back and then resent it to me. So, I got the "NEW" vacuum last Saturday (7/1/2023 - pretty fast since they didn't even call me back like they said they would..) and they sent me a USED machine. It had fingerprints all over it and it was dusty on the bottom part and the hose that came with it was as well. I was disappointment but I was just praying it worked. And of course, the back wheels locked up and the left one didn't want to move at all. At this point I almost wanted to cry, but I just didn't have the energy to call them yet again. I got the WD40 and tried to get the wheel to work. It's not perfect but at least it turns. It was completely locked up before. Hopefully this will work out, but this machine also has a 5 year warranty and I don't even want to jinx things by putting that out in the universe, but I will keep calling them until I get a working machine if I have to. They really won't want to keep hearing from me. Pray for me please. I'm so sick and tired of all this...I bought this in December 2022. Bissell is my go-to brand for vacuums as I've NEVER had issues with them. They've lasted YEARS until someone would physically break a part and we had to replace it. After a couple of months, the wire had frayed and after contacting Bissell they told me they would replace the machine and to throw out the old machine as it's a fire hazard (I did send them pictures as proof). Great. Got the new machine and it's fine. FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF MONTHS? The machine just stops turning on. The on/off button wasn't clicking and it just was dead. They sent me a return label and I sent the unit back. Keep in mind I had thrown the box out so I had to create a new box in order to send it back. They then sent me "a replacement machine after checking" the one I had sent back. They sent me the second replacement in April. Third times a charm right?? Last Friday (June 23, 2023) the machine died AGAIN. The SAME button issue as before. Now, I don't know if they just tried to fix the button and sent it back or if it's actually a new replacement. I called them and they told me they would have to "look into the problem as it's the third time" I've had "issues with this model". I am now waiting for them to get back to me, but it could take them until Wednesday so I had to go and buy another vacuum in the meantime because my parents are extremely immune compromised so the hepa filter and other features seemed perfect for our situation. I will see what they can do for me, but I cannot recommend this model at all.

Really good, but glaring, awful design defects allowing pet hair to accumulate at axles
We had a prior Bissell PowerGlide Pet (2215) that worked okay, but it had lots of issues and ultimately we only got about 3.5 years out of it. It still runs but has horrible noises and doesn't work very well.We will have to see if this one lasts longer, but overall it's improved in a lot of ways. It absolutely picks up more hair than the old one, although I'd argue the old one is probably not fully functional at this point. However, we have a particular rug that used to require multiple passes in multiple directions to get all the dog hair, and this one grabs it all in one, maybe two passes. The lift off mechanism and the wand is really nice, it was so hard to do stairs with the other one, here I can use the lift off and the pet eraser attachment very easily. The wand makes it easy to get balls of dog hair in the corner or under shelves. The larger brush head on the main vacuum is definitely an improvement, as even the hair from our long-haired dog can't wrap all the way around it, so it's pretty easy to pull the hair out. No matter what the ads say, it doesn't "self clean", but her hair completely neutered the old vacuum and frequently required disassembly to clean. This is MUCH easier. (EDIT: see update at the bottom)The dustbin is pretty much the same, pretty tiny, needing emptying very often for our two dogs. However it seems like the hair falls out naturally much more often without having to reach up in and tug stuck hairballs out.The cord is shorter and that's frustrating. My old schema of what plugs i used for what areas is completely upended. I unplug and replug this one a lot more often than the old one. However, it is lighter. One of my concerns is the construction of the PetEraser being identical to the one we had. There is of course an axle around which the brush/impeller spins. On our last one, dog hair gets wrapped around the axle right where it meets the plastic, and eventually it works its way in and the entire thing has so much friction it doesn't spin anymore.Edit: 12/7/23: The main roller still suffers from a glaring design defect. The axle is fixed within the roller, and is not made for disassembly. The problem is that hair builds up around the axle at one end, and eventually causes significant friction which eventually causes the roller to quit functioning. This is extra bad because the motor doesn't know better and keeps trying, so the whole thing gets absurdly hot until you notice and resign yourself to 45 minutes of dealing with it.It is possible to pull the hair out, but I end up having to use needle nose pliers, a pick and a exacto knife. If it's not possible to keep the pet hair away from the axle, Bissell really needs to make the axle disassemble so you can easily remove the hair from spinning bits.Knocking off 2 stars for a pet vacuum that cannot handle pet hair without seizing up. Next time I clean this out I'll take pictures. I don't mind a little maintenance but I don't expect a 2 month old vacuum to completely seize up from pet hair gumming the works.Man I wish they could fix this, because it's great in all other aspects.

Prises non conforme à la Belgique
Gros problème en Belgique. C'est pas des prises pour la Belgique.J'ai dû le renvoyer malheureusement, pourtant je le veux vraiment.

American plugs are incompatible with UK sockets both physically and voltage wise.
Shipping a high voltage product in the UK with an American plug makes the product useless and poses an electrical risk.

Best Vacuum!!!
I'm not someone who usually likes to write about anything and therfore writing a review is not my top list of prioritiesHowever I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 VacuumI absolutely love this vacuum. I'm a long time loyal fan and customer of BissellThis new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment planThis vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering. It's pretty much a lightweight vacuum. What I want to point out is that there's LED Lights built in the vacuum at the frontI have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this featureI am totally satisfied with my purchase

American model with an American plug. Why don't you say that?
This is a great machine, but what Amazon does not tell you is that this is an American model and it comes with an American plug. It is not meant to work in Germany.
