Durable cabinet with loud, detailed sound
I was on the hunt for a pair of 8" powered tops to go with a 15" subwoofer. These fit the bill for me nicely. I compared these against other compact speakers like QSC CP8, QSC K8.2, and EV ZLX 8P. The two wooden cabinet speakers sounded a lot better and immediately ruled out the EVs and CP8. I've heard wood cabinets are best for sound and that was the case for this, though I'm not sure how much of a factor it was. The wood also feels like a more premium product. For the money, I kept the LD and returned the K8. I don't need that much power and the price on the LD was much better. The LD 8 get PLENTY loud enough for my applications, which is backyard parties, mobile/camping setups with an Ecoflow battery, and small DJ gigs. Portability and loudness vs. power consumption is a big priority for me due to being used on battery frequently. People have been surprised just how clear the LD sound and I definitely agree. These are the best sounding tops I've ever owned. Very happy with the build quality, sound, and size of the Stinger 8s.
