Does this work with the nest temperature sensor?

No, the sensors are NOT compatible with this specific one (Nest Thermostat). You also have to use the Google Home app to operate it remotely, as this Thermostat is NOT compatible with the Google Nest app.

Does this smart thermostat have a lock setting? I have annoying people that like to mess with the thermostat.

Unfortunately, Nest Thermostat (2020) doesn't have a lock feature unlike previous Nest thermostat models.

Work with carrier heat pumps?

Can this thermostat function with zwave vs WiFi?

Unfortunately, Google Nest devices don't directly support Zigbee or Z-wave. However, it can work and control smart devices using either of the two protocols. You may need a brand specific hub or a universal hub that has a Google Assistant integration.
