Otterbox Defender Series is still the most durable phone case
Otterbox Defender Series phone case is still the most durable phone case I can find. My 4th case from years of different phones, both iPhone & Androids. This one I bought for a iPhone 12 Pro Max & it fits perfectly. Protects the phone great, hard plastic inner shell with a rubberized outer shell for shock absorption protection & grip, substantial thick lip front and back around glass screen & cameras for protection & holds up well. I’m a very active outdoorsy type so my phone always takes a serious beating. A little more bulky than standard hard shell cases, but necessary for the added protection. Cons: The only major downside that’s really disappointing is for the first time ever, the Defender (military grade protection) doesn’t come with a phone screen protector or camera lens(es) protector? So you have to buy them separately. I’m still searching for ones that stick to the phone or hold up without getting sand or water in them since the phones are waterproof now. I’m hoping switches back & starts selling Otterbox phone cases with screen protectors with their phones again. I imagine they stopped to stay price competitive. It would be nice if they added a build in credit card holder like many modern phone cases have now as well & a kickstand & wrist strap. That would be the ultimate phone case. Best phone case brands out there are Otterbox & Pelican, but I feel Otterbox Defender is still better than the competition.

Read reviews carefully!!! Great case! Great case! Great case!
First off, this case - OtterBox Defender Series Screenless Edition Case for iPhone 12 Pro Max - Black (77-65923) - is designed to fit only the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Those who complained about improper fit almost certainly did not order the correct case for the phone they owned. The plastic inner frame provides a stable attachment base for the rubber shroud. The rubber IS the same soft rubber you’re used to from all of the Defender cases you’ve used over the years. The fit is perfect, all buttons and features are accessible and it’s Otterbox tough. It is screen-less. I bought the - OtterBox Performance Plus Glass Series Screen Protector for iPhone 12 Pro Max - Clear - and it too fits perfectly with NO edge interference. I have a wireless charger that charges the phone just fine with the case installed. My opinion, this is the best case money can buy. Yes, it’s expensive… but this is a $1000+ phone. I traded in my 3 year old Otterbox protected iPhone 8 on this new one. It looked like a brand new phone when I removed the case. Read the negative reviews carefully. You can usually pic out a detail that reveals a mistake made by the owner, usually that they ordered the wrong case. Then look at the star rating ratio. If 95% of 8000 purchasers rated the case 4 stars or higher, consider how much weight you give the outliers.

Otter box is the number 1 brand!
I had to replace my old defender otter box (no fault of the case itself). My dog got ahold of my phone and chewed up the silicone piece. Luckily the two plastic pieces were still in tact. Somehow this case still protected my phone from a 90 lb dog 😂 unfortunately you can’t use the case with just the two plastic pieces because the silicone outer piece is what allows you to click the side buttons. I have had this case since I bought my phone a few years ago and my gosh have I dropped this bad boy and even slammed it in my car trunk. I went ahead and replaced my screen protector as well (pictured above). Once I took everything apart my phone was still in PERFECT condition. Not a scratch or ding anywhere. I’m the type of gal who always enjoys her cheaper off brand products but when it comes to protecting a $1200 phone… otter box is your best option. Spend that extra money so you don’t loose out in the end. (Second pic shows the plastic pieces after my dog got ahold of it). It holds up I promise!

Another awesome Defender!
Update Oct 2021 - my charging port tab at the bottom was hanging by a thread after almost a year of use, which has never happened with any of my past Defenders, so I bought a new case online at the OB site (searched out the discounts and managed to save $15!). Still, this is an awesome case, so the 5 stars remain. I decided not to give in to ‘new-phone-envy’ this year and stay with my awesome 12 Pro Max, so how about a new case anyway since the bottom tab hinge wore out? Like I’ve got a new phone! 📱😎 I’ve had Black for all my phones, and this time I decided to go with the Varsity Blues. I thought that the inner light blue hard shell liner would be “too bright” and distracting, but it’s not at all. Original review: This is my 8th iPhone — knock on wood, all have had an OtterBox Defender from the 3GS on with no damage over a fair number of drops, though I am very careful or try to be. You simply must do what you can to protect these very expensive devices! Fits my new iPhone 12 Pro Max perfectly. I upgraded the phone through my AT&T account online, and when I ordered this 12 Pro Max I went ahead and added their suggested glass screen protector. Forgot the name of the vendor AT&T uses for the protector, but the box was similar to the MaxBoost (is that the name? I forgot) ones I usually get here on Amazon. It is really a high quality product, but AT&T’s only has ONE protector in the box, FYI. That said, the ‘system’ for mounting it to your phone is idiot-proof - best I’ve seen. Anyway, point being it allows plenty of room all around for the Defender parts to snap into place. I can’t comment on this year’s MaxBoost or other top screen protectors, but the AT&T one is perfect, almost like they had the OtterBox in mind. This Defender case is trim and form-fitting - less bulky than in the past, it seems. Good thing as this phone is pretty big! It helps that if I recall right the 12 Pro Max is a wee bit thinner (?), which seems to be reflected in a less thick case.

I had a style almost exactly like this on my IPhone 10 and it works well. I drop my phone quite often and that case has done wonders. Ordered one for my 12 pro max and o am not disappointed at all. Have saved my phone from a few nasty drops already, I am glad I got this case otter box is more on the expensive side but is totally worth for the protection you receive.

Could not say any bad comment about it because the fit is superb. Makes your device very solid.

the OtterBOX Defender SCREENLESS Edition Case is great protection for my phone as a Tradie. It is easy to fit, gives plenty of protection to the sides, back and front (given it falls flat). Only complaint is it makes the phone/case combo a reasonable amount heavier. It is not a light case. It is pretty much a life case in most ways and will protect my phone from most falls. However, be aware there is no protection against sharp objects damaging the screen. If it falls flat or scrapes along something flat the phone is well protected. It is all I want in that respect. I am however, very aware that if something not flat like a table corner or a rock hits the screen it will definitely not protect it. In all other respects it is a great cover and precisely what I wanted. Despite it increasing the phone's dimensions and it's weight a little, it slips into my pocket easily.
