A.A. Co-founder Dr. Bob stated frequently that the Book of James, Jesus' sermon on the mount, and 1 Corinthians 13 were absolutely essential in the early A.A. program. So popular was the Book of James that early AAs wanted to call their society The James Club. This book studies, line by line, and verse by verse the relevance of these three Bible segments to A.A. principles, practices, and basic ideas. Many fellowships, in and outside of A.A., are using this book as a study resource and, in fact, are naming their groups The James Club. You will know the essence of early A.A. basic ideas from the Bible when you know the contents of this book. This historical guide and study book provides for facilitators, counselors, speakers, sponsors, and group leaders an entirely new way of bringing people to recovery and cure through a line by line study of each of the Bible verses, a line by line comparison of those verses with the relevant Big Book and Twelve Step ideas which they spawned, and a proven way of applying the exact principles and practices of the early A.A. Christian Fellowship in Akron, Ohio. Review: review - Good book Review: Great Read for the serious AA - Dick B is a wonderful author. I found this book to be an inspiration. He very clearly explains the biblical beginnings from the early days of AA and explains why the current AA groups are not obtaining the same results. I highly recomend him.

Truth about AA origins
Historic information that few in recovery ever hear.

OK
This historian is the only one that claims the Christian Endeavor and not the Oxford Group shaped the early program and he spends time on weird things like whether that dr.bob was cured or not even though we know he never claimed it so definitely not my favorite author for aa history. He claims the other historians are revisionist but he has no documentation for his version just circular logic.
