There is no way anyone could expect a pair of adjustable crimpers to properly terminate a cable compression fitting — Right? One would expect nothing to line up properly or correctly to complete the crimp. But, that’s not the case with this Steren Brand 204-036 Multifunctional adjustable Coaxial Cable Crimper. Save yourself time looking at all those other expensive crimpers, and purchase this tool. When I purchased this crimper, I bought it as my only tool. I loved how easy it was to adjust and change adapters for different connectors. If this tool is properly adjusted, and used with the correct fittings, you have no need to worry about the center screw bending or breaking as others have stated could happen. Although I find this crimper to be well made, I’ve begun designing and prototyping a few upgrades for this tool. I didn’t want to keep taking my “worker” tool apart and manipulating it’s parts so many times, so I purchased another “similar” crimper for prototyping purposes. I couldn’t believe the difference between this Steren crimper and the “dummy” look-a-like I had just bought. There wasn’t any question in distinguishing my original Steren brand crimper from the “dummy” that I purchased at a fraction of the cost. This Steren crimper has exceptional fit and finish that allows for extremely smooth operation and compression accuracy. It has the ability to quickly adjust for a different type of connector on the fly within seconds. My “dummy” for prototyping is extremely wonky, and what is supposed to be a quick adjustment, turns out to be a larger project than putting the connectors on the cable ends! On Amazon, there are many questionable products — many look-a-likes. It should be obvious, quality doesn’t equal bargain price! I can’t believe that I was able to purchase such a tool — proper compression crimp anyone? I too have purchased many pairs of inexpensive — sometimes off-brand crimpers. But now, I have an extremely high quality pair that I have no worries that will perform a perfect compression each time. Do you still insist on buying those inexpensive crimpers?

This is the first compression tool I’ve owned. It has already paid for itself by me not paying someone else to do my cable work. This item will work well for most do it yourselfers. For a professional needing a tool for everyday use it may be iffy because the only complaint I have is: For the shorter RG6 compression connectors on the market the adjustment part will need to be moved closer towards the connector not leaving much of the shaft still screwed in, but it will work. This may be a pain for constant all day use. A slight redesign will solve this problem. See attached photos showing the adjustment part, longer connector (Perfect Vision PV6UE-05) and shorter connector (Ideal 89-019). No issues for the longer connectors. Overall the product is at a cheaper price cheaper than some of the other brands of the comparable quality. I would purchase again and recommend for the DIY-er.

Well made tool that works well installing BNC crimp connectors on coaxial cable. I have used in many times installing RG58 connectors without any problems. The length adjustment for squeezing the connector together is critical to prevent damage to the internal parts of the connectors so practice on a couple of connectors before starting. If the coaxial cable is stripped correctly then this tool will connect the cable and connector correctly.

I'm rating this crimper low because it's way overpriced and there is no other way to warn others about it being available for half the cost unless I leave a bad review on THIS item. It gets a bad review for being a very poor value. Find the identical orange handled ones for under $19 with Prime delivery. Or if you must have it in yellow/black, then look for ASIN #B008PKLZMO for under $20, including shipping.

I think it would be a great tool if there was a manual showing how to adjust the dies and make use.. I can find no manuals or videos on You Tube that show how to adjust the dies or make use of it. I has laid in my tool bin for years with no use.

This is very easy to set up and works very well. It produces a rock solid connection that will not come apart. The tool seems to be very well made and so far it has performed flawlessly for me.

Many people have posted that this tool and many like it are crap, that it breaks after using it a few times. The center piece that applies the pressure to to compress the fitting is hollow and bends. This might be true, but only if you do not know how to use the tool. I bought this tool to take the place of another compression tool I have used for years and also because this is an all in one type, change the fitting, adjust the depth of the compression to fit the fitting you are compressing and all is good. I have used this on a complete (100ct) bag of mid-grade BNC compression fittings. Has worked flawlessly for me. I should have bought one of these years ago.

This is a quality tool and worked very will and gave quality crimps. This is the one to buy!!
