Is this the same as de-scaling?

It is NOT. Please review the product description. This is for CLEANING the output nozzle. DESCALING is another thing.

Do these work in the CitiZ machine?

They work in any Nespresso that uses the original (classic) pods. Remember, this is NOT descaling or cleaning any part of the machine except the last bit where the coffee cones out. You still need to descale the machine a couple times a year if you use it every day .

Do they make these for the vert up line or can they be used with that line

These are not compatible with Vertuo Lina and nobody makes those because the bar code that has to be read is a parent nobody can work around at the moment
