It was cheap, it works, and it looks like the original remote that got lost in my last move.

So simple! Our original Denon remote was not responsive any more. After reading reviews of this product what was there to loose for $8.00? It was a perfect replacement! Add batteries and it's just like new again!If you're having issues with your volume control button not responding.... this is the replacement remote that works!!

Would have given 5 star but it was missing the word Denon on the remote. Now I have to tell a guest grab that RC-1196 remote ;)

Nice! Remember years ago trying to find a replacement Denon RC-1196 remote, and not just a substitute with a few matching functions? Frustrated at that time, I gave up the search, and just walked to our Denon receiver to make any adjustment sans remote. Fast Forward to today when I stumbled across this remote on Amazon. I was quite surprised to see all the buttons like the original on this remote, and I tested only a few buttons after a few days ownership. Volume up/down actually works. And of course my most favorite button in the universe, the mute button. But I wonder why a Denon remote leaves the word Denon off the remote's face?I found this remote on Amazon only after recently fumbling thru Denon's bluetooth apps while looking for a control to adjust the AVR-S500BT's volume (and didn't find it). So I will enjoy this remote while it continues to work.I have owned the AVR-S500BT for years, and it still puts out great volume/sound for my 50 inch Panasonic plasma tv thru our (5.1) Definitive speakers, but I only use the optical output from the tv to amplify sound. Using the HDMII connectors on the S500BT had colored the sound so poorly, I had to call Denon; the Denon techn years ago advised bypassing the S500BT's HDMIs by using only the optical tv output as input to the S500BT. However, bypassing the HDMI's ended my interest in AV receivers.

This was a great replacement to my old remote. Loaded batteries and of f I went. I recommend this if your old remote dies.

I didn't realize that everyone else was having the same problem with the volume control not reacting to the button pushes. Hard presses, long presses - nothing seemed to work consistently. So glad I found the review comments on Amazon. The replacement control worked with no set up other than popping the batteries.
