Great model
Easy deploy and closing. It comes razor sharp out of box (at least mine did). The action is smooth and buttery, small and easy to carry for work. Use it to cut boxes and whatever else a knife would be handy for. Easy to sharpen with a pocket sharpener and holds an edge pretty well. Now i dont beat the knife up, but for my use its money well spent

My new EDC knife. Very happy overall.
I'm not a knife enthusiast by any means, and I've been using my old Schrade SW-7 for decades with no issues as a EDC or utility knife, fishing knife, camping knife and all. I decided its time to get a new EDC and see what was on the market and so I found this knife rated very highly on many different forums, the reviews on Amazon as well as other websites recommending this knife. I have to say I am extremely pleased with it after I received it. The factory blade was pretty sharp, not as sharp as they come but definitely not dull either. I could slightly shave hairs off my forearm with it but not in 1 swipe like my larger SOG sealpup, where this took a few motions to completely shave the hair off. The knife also cuts paper very easily and without any problem at all. So overall a very sharp knife, and especially for the price. The knife doesn't feel cheap at all, and from the blade to the lock, to the grip it feels very solidly built. The blade is centered when closed, easily flicks open effortlessly with a flick of the stud, and rivals the speed of an assisted opening knife I recently purchased. What I really like about this knife is how it feels in my hand, and how light but durable it feels and the grip is good, but not like my g-10 knife which is like rough sandpaper, this is a subtle grip thats good but not hard to pull from the pocket either. The clip is firm, there is no play in the blade and overall now my new favorite EDC knife. Perfect for pretty much all the daily tasks of opening, cutting or whatever. I don't work in a construction type or blue collar trade, so I don't know how this knife would hold up in that type of use, so I can't comment on that, but overall very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend this knife for others. I may even be getting some of these as gifts for people as its affordable but still very good quality.

Great little workhorse!
I'll start by saying I'm kind of a "knife nerd". I have a fairly large collection, with my interest being mainly in custom knives. But I'm pretty abusive to my work knife and can't get myself to use an expensive blade for metal on metal cutting, prying, other things knives aren't designed to do, not to mention I occasionally lose them. Enter the Rat II. It's a great knife at a great price point. The one handed opening action is excellent out of the box. The scales have a great textured secure grip. The smaller size is plenty big for everything I throw at it but doesn't freak people out when I flick it open. And it's easy to sharpen and easily takes a good working edge with the Worksharp pocket sharpener I keep in my toolbox. In fact, I'm writing this review of my second Rat II as I lost my original one that I had been carrying for a long time. As soon as I realized it wasn't in my pocket I ordered a replacement as, for me, this is the perfect work blade. The only MINOR gripe I have is that it comes with the pocket clip set for tip down carry. It's reversible as long as you have a T6 mini torx bit and simple enough to change, I just don't know many people that prefer that carry style. I highly recommend this affordable little knife.

Great value blade
Here's the highlights: -very well made blade of pretty decent steel for the price -very useful blade shape with a great grind from factory. -excellent grip considering the uses for a small folder -no problems with the factory condition. -for the money this is one of the best knives I've ever owned. After reading all the positive reviews for this knife all over the internet I recently decided to buy one and try it out. I usually carry an assisted opening knife but I wanted a carry knife option that wasn't assisted in case I found myself in a location that it was illegal to carry an assisted blade. If you just want to know my opinion and be off then know this is a very nice blade for the money. You could buy 4 or 5 of these things for the price of many other comparable knives. Based on quality this knife would still be a good option if it were 3 times more expensive then it is. The knife was a little smaller than I expected but I have a feeling that's just because I've been carrying a Sog Trident for a few years which is a larger knife and I'm used to it by now. The knife was in great shape when it arrived and there was a coating of oil on the blade. The aus8 steel was very sharp and nicely ground. There were no chips, knicks, scratches, etc from the factory. I haven't had any reason to open it up and look at the internals but I'm sure they are about the quality you'd expect in a high quality value knife. The jimping is excellent. It is very easy to get a good grasp on the knife despite being fairly compact. The handle is a little smooth and if I had a complaint that might be it. However with the jimping and the little finger groove for your index finger I have no fear of being able to hang on to it. The Rat 2 is fairly compact so I wouldn't expect to be doing anything incredibly tough with it anyway. It might be more of a noticable flaw with the larger Rat 1 but I will probably be buying the larger Rat in the future anyway. If it's the same quality of its smaller brother I'm sure it's worth it to have both. I haven't had to sharpen the blade yet but it's Aus8 steel. In use I haven't noticed any flaws with the heat treatment so I'm going to go ahead and assume it's a quality tempered Aus8 blade that acts like aus8 should. Fairly tough stuff that's not too difficult to keep sharp. It doesn't chip easily and it should last as long as you want it. I really like the blade shape surprisingly. It's a very useful sweep that kind of reminds me of a kitchen knife but that makes it very utilitarian. It has a strong tip too so I'm not very worried about it breaking. I have a kershaw leek I sometimes carry but I've never liked the fragile blade shape with those. This doesn't seem like a knife you'd have to worry about. As I've said all throughout this review, I really like the knife. It isn't the greatest knife ever made. It isn't even the nicest I currently own. However for the price you pay it is excellent quality. There's really nothing wrong with it. The blade is a high quality (mid grade) steel, the ergonomics are good, and the value is exceptional. I like the design and I think it works exactly how it was intended. I recommend the knife to anyone that wants something to carry and use. You probably wont impress a knife snob carrying it, but it will do its job just as well as whatever benchmade or overpriced 300$ knife they tell you you should have bought. And when they lose their knife and cry themselves to sleep you can revel in the fact that you could loose 8 of these and still not have lost as much money as them.
