After multiple cords, numerous videos, countless Google articles..... I finally found one that works. I have the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 Tablet/Laptop combo. Through this process, I have learned that these tablets are harder to find cords that will allow you to mirror your screen to a monitor. This is the only cord I am using. I connected the mini-display port to my tablet and the display port to my Samsung monitor. In my settings, I went to systems, displays, and the 2 monitors appeared at the top for me to select the settings. I chose to show monitor 2 only which allowed my tablet to be mirrored onto my Samsung monitor. Worked like a dream. I'm taking one star away bc the cord is positional. Meaning, I had to unplug it a few times and had to hold it just right to get my tablet to recognize my monitor. Finally got it though and I am thrilled. I love my Surface Pro, but when I'm at home working on my school work, a larger monitor makes studying and writing papers much easier. Hope this review helps.

I wanted to get 2k resolution out of an old graphics card and I needed this cable to do so. The old graphics card is an hd 6950 2gb and is my backup gaming computer so when my other computer is doing video encoding and other things. Any ways at first I thought this didn't work but I looked up a youtube video that told me to disconnect both ends and reconnect about 20-30 seconds later and it will work. To my amazement that actually fixed the issue I was having with it. So this does what I wanted it to do and that was to connect my graphics card to my dp input on my Dell 32 inch 4k 60hz curved monitor. Older graphics cards such as my hd 6950 2gb will not support 2k resolution with hdmi and will only work with this mini display port to display port to get a higher resolution. Otherwise you'll be stuck on hdmi 1080p/1200p resolution which does not look good at all. 4k monitors look good at 4k and 2k resolution especially bigger monitors such as my 32 inch monitor. Anyways this does the job and Amazon has good products when it comes to dp cables. I also have a dp cable that I sometimes use on my rx 5500 xt 4gb which is the graphics card I use for 4k gaming. Obviously that's not a real 4k graphics card but i don't feel like spending a couple grand to get a 4k gaming gpu that will max everything out in games. I'm good with tweaking settings for now. Eventually I want to upgrade my gpu for my other computer but that really has nothing to do with this review other than I love Amazon Basic products. They don't have that button thingy on them like other brands which is always a plus to me because i scraped the back of my monitor with other dp cable brands So I highly recommend Amazon Basic products.

This cable is well constructed, the connectors are gold plated. My Macbooks (Mid-2012, Mid-2015, and Mid-2018) in addition to my Alienware M17 stopped working with the mini-display port/thunderbolt 2(3 with adapter) and my monitor. After trying several software and driver fixes I just could not get it to work. So I reverted back to IT 101 and "When in doubt, swap it out" and swapped out the old cable with this cable. For the price, it can't be beaten. Other reviews knocked it for not having a clip on the monitor side, but I found the connection to be quite snug and no wiggle at all in the monitor or the ports on my computers. Display quality is outstanding on my older Dell U2413 1920x1200 monitor. One thing to consider is to get the shortest length that will suit your needs. For me, 3' was plenty long enough. The longer the cable, the more attenuation.

I just needed this for a test to ensure my graphics card was working OK as only has mini DP outputs, it did what I needed for a good price.
