It's a book that will leave you feeling empty.
At least, that's how I felt when i was done reading the series. This book is considered to be one of the best manga yet, but i believe that a lot of the reviews are biased. Most people who buy these books, as well as myself, know what they are getting into. I believe that is why this book has such a high rating. but i think for the majority of the people out there without any bias, they would not like this book. It is THE darkest book I have ever read. and I love to read tragic manga. If you like philosophy, psychology, a complex story, and especially tragedy. i highly recommend reading this story. if you don't like any of those, you will most likely not enjoy. every time you finish reading a volume, you will feel emptiness. and that's something a lot of people don't like feeling after spending some time reading. I have read my fair share of tragedies, but this one really took a toll on me. I was in utter shock at how far the author took it in terms of creating such a setting of emotions and despair. I have even discussed the book with fellow manga readers, and a lot of them were not able to finish the series and i believe that is something important to mention when deciding to purchase these books. Negative thoughts aside, I thought the story was beautifully executed. the thing with manga is that a lot of authors like to take events to the extreme and they give you a lot exaggerated emotions and actions in an instant which I don't particularly dislike but it does give off a more unrealistic setting. this author slowly incorporated events and situations that slowly but effectively sets the mood and setting. the events that took place in the book could be described as random yet completely possible, events happened that you would not expect to happen but can completely happen in the real world. crazy and random, but everything is still tied to the focus of the book. another thing I liked is the beautiful art. some of these panels can hold so much emotion and feelings. I took photos of some of the pages so i can go back to some scanned copies online and save them. that's another thing i like about it. when you read a simple novel, you sort of have to create an image of the characters as well as the setting, but in manga, the illustrator does that for you. seeing the emotions on the characters faces and it shows you the setting as how the author imagined it. A picture can say a thousand words. that said, something I did not enjoy as much is that the main characters, such as Punpun, are portrayed by a vague representation. I love to see facial expressions, and that's something that was not applied to the main characters. However, It is understandable as Punpun was able to represent, various alter egos that would heavily influence the setting and mood I still feel "iffy" about it. all in all. I loved the book, bought the whole series and I am able to proudly show it off to my friends. I would recommend this book to anyone who even shows the slightest of interest, since it is somewhat of a light read with a heavy impact. the thing I disliked the most is that it was too tragic for me. I could even say that I felt disgusted by the whole thing. but those are my personal feelings. in terms of the content and execution it is phenomenal. but beware, you will only feel empty, after reading this book. 10/10 book 8/10 story (at least for me)

Good
I’ve been wanting this manga in my collection for a very long time I finally bought it and I’m not disappointed. It came in perfect condition and is a very great story. I was skeptical as I read the reviews of people say how the cover got misprinted but I seem to have been lucky and not get a misprinted copy

Oyasumi Punpun
Ever since reading the first few chapter of Oyasumi Punpun a few years ago, I was hooked. Most of you are probably aware of the plot, so I will skip to why you might be interested in checking it out and/or purchasing the first volume. 1. The art style : Inio Asano has a very interesting art style, something you don't see much nowadays, which is sad because his art style perfectly fits the genre of this story (somewhat dark & twisted, but also, to some extent, relatable). You will understand what I mean after reading about first 5 pages. 2. The story line: the premises for this story make OPP sound more... boring than it actually is, but it's only because this story is so concentrated on the emotions and thoughts, rather than action (although it does have it fair share of action, it's just not as common as it is for, say, typical shounen manga). There are a bunch of plot twists that will make you gape and the story itself never seems to slow down, much like it does in (excuse my repetition) a majority of shounen manga. 3. The characters: oh, the characters! You will fall in love with (or at least feel somewhat reletable to) most of them - Midori, Seki, Sachi... and even God (I won't spoiler you who God is, but his appearance is always welcome and nice). There will, of course, also be the characters that you will dislike, or the characters you will have a mix opinion on (see: main character), but it just makes this manga all the more realistic. tl;dr: go buy this manga, it's amazing!

Lost in the Chaos: A Story That Didn’t Click
I really struggled with this one. Despite the amazing reviews, I just couldn’t get into it. The story, if you can even call it a story, is grim, but it feels scattered. Some of Punpun’s motivations and actions made no sense to me. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ll give it another read in a few months. Perhaps I missed something the first time around.
