WHich colored pancils should I get to use with an adult coloring book?

You can use any colored pencils. I think the Prismacolor Premium or Crayola pencils work better. Crayola pencils work great for coloring books and are harder and cheaper than Prismacolor Premium pencils.

I want to buy some pencils for my 11yr old granddaughter to use with the Secret Garden coloring book, should I get the premier or verathin?

What is the best way to sharpen these? I am having trouble with the lead breaking off while sharpening.

Hold the colored pencil in one hand and the pencil sharpener in the other hand, and then turn the pencil sharpener, while holding the colored pencil still.Most of us do it the other way round (turning the pencil and holding the sharpener still), but if you turn the pencil sharpener instead, it reduces the stress on the colored pencil and reduces breakage.

Are these pencils the same as the regular prismacolors,and do they blend well.

No, the "regular" sets are soft pencils and these are hard. Look at the chart supplied on this page. The soft sets are for blending and shading. These are for hard edges.
