August EP650 Bluetooth Wireless Over-Ear Headphones with aptX Low Latency, NFC, Multipoint Pairing, Wired Option, Built-in Microphone - Black

First off I am not a paid reviewer or someone that got this for free. It is disappointing that some Amazon reviews are now suspect. I have had this headset for just two days so this is simply my initial impressions and they are very positive. I found pairing to my LG G3 smartphone, NEXUS 10 tablet, and Dish Hopper to be straightforward and actually pretty easy. I thought the Hopper wasn't going to work but then bingo it did. There is a very slight delay in sound when watching TV on Dish but you have to be really focusing on their lips to notice it. Watching a movie using the DishAnywhere app that I had transferred to the phone had no delay in sound, just excellent. I have listened to streaming music and movies using the Amazon Prime music app, DishAnywhere, Google Music, and Pandora all excellent. Music that I have downloaded or in the cloud is just excellent and really doesn't seem to make a difference. Also purchased the case from August and it will protect the headset and it also is a good product. I like that you get a discount when you buy them together. PRO: 1. Sound quality is excellent. I downloaded a popular equalizer app to the smartphone to play with the sound and eventually just ended up turning off the equalizer. You can of course totally change the sound with the equalizer app and there were certain songs that it seemed like maybe they were better with the equalizer but overall I kept finding that comparing the song with and without the app and in different equalizer modes like normal, rock, dance, flat, or custom would generally sound just as good without the equalizer. Fun to play with and I am not that much a huge bass fan. Generally speaking I want my music to be as the artist intended it to be. I tried everything from classic rock, country, Hawaiian (if you are familiar with Darlene Ahuna I haven't heard her sound better), and it amazed me how I had forgotten just how good some voices really are/were like Johnny Cash or Elvis. Also along the sound comment is that I hear such small effects so clearly and the words to some songs that I always struggled with so clearly I find that really shows off the technology. Watching a movie that had a dog barking weakly in the background and I thought it was my neighbor coming over with his dog like he generally would. Took off the headset to get up to answer the door and then had to laugh that the barking had been part of the soundtrack. That was the moment I thought 'damn, good headset'. 2. Comfort. Yes it covers and fits totally over the ear and has an excellent comfort to it. You can wear it for longer periods without a problem but I wouldn't go so far as to say that you don't know it's there. 3. Price. Seems to me the price point on this headset is excellent. I have a 20 year old studio quality wired headset that is still phenomenal but to be wireless is compelling. 4. Noise Isolation. So this is a pro in one way simply because these cut out the world and you are in your own little cocoon. 5. Controls. Personally I don't find the controls confusing at all. The small owners manual was clear enough, CON 1. At this point the only con I have is that noise isolation. Even at moderate volume levels if my wife wants to get my attention she has to be in my vision. I would never wear these walking in a busy city unless the sound was at the lowest levels. The headset itself has such noise cancelling ability that you could easily not hear a car horn, siren etc. Someone knocking on your door? Forget it, you would never hear it. 2. Use as a phone. Although I have to say it's great to hear the phone call through both ears with the noise isolation it was great for me. The person on the other end said I was clear enough but there was a bit of a tunnel effect that wasn't as clear as if I was on the phone itself. With the mic where it is that makes perfect sense. If I have any longer term issues I will post them. Update: I have used these for over one year. Very happy. Buying one for a gift.

Update 11/19 My earpads started flaking off a month or so ago. I came here to see if I could order replacements and noticed it was over five years since my original purchase. My battery life was still great but any headset at this price, that sounds this good and lasts 5+ years is top dog in my book. I wear these religiously to work out. Treadmill, spin, lift. I use them for phone calls, I travel with them. Sometimes I throw them on just to dance around the house. They are amazingly comfortable. I never get pain across the top of my head thanks to the awesome padding. I cannot wear ear buds and lots of the over ear sets are either too tight, too loose or just slide around. I purchased my second set this week, I went gold, they are divine. I have them on while I'm typing this. Thinking of mounting my old red ones over the mantle. I have had sets that cost several hundred dollars. These are still my one and onlys. I adjust the equilizer on my phone and they sound INCREDIBLE and I listen much louder than I should be. No distortion. Clear tones, great bass. Still worth every cent. Probably my favorite Amazon purchase to date. Cannot recommend them more highly. Update 12/17 almost 4 years old, still going strong, I absolutely love them. I have never once had a problem connecting them to any device nor do they drop the connection. Worth every cent. I did a lot of research before purchasing these as I am super picky with the comfort levels of headphones. I have several pairs of skull candy collectible DJ headphones and a Bose set but I needed some bluetooth capabilities and these looked like they fit the bill nicely. Received them and I am BLOWN away with the sound quality. If you have them and don't agree you might want to play with your equalizers a little bit because these pups are crystal clear with plenty of bass power. The bluetooth connects quickly, I use them with my phone, Ipod, PC, PS3 & PS4, laptop and even my Roku remote to watch TV because they even have a had dandy audio jack to plug in. (Audio jack is included) The battery life is incredible, I've been rocking it with daily use for two months, at least two hours a day and I've charged them only TWICE. I know it's hard to believe, trust me it befuddles me too. Charges with my Galaxy 4 usb. Love that I didn't need to add another little plug. They fold up nicely, but I use them too much to fold them often. I cannot wear ear plugs because no matter what brand they pop out of ears. So I started wearing these on my treadmills runs too. At first I was worried they would be too hot, too uncomfortable, etc. They don't budge on a full out run and they are padded really nice. The inside band and the ear part are super soft and I never have to adjust them even after having them on for hours. No sore ears. Super plus. They are so flipping loud which is an absolute joy for me. So many crap headphones lose the audio quality when you turn it up. Not these. If you're upgrading from a pair of crappy ones prepare to be mind-blown. I got the red because I thought it was snazzy. I dig them so much that if they crapped out I would definitely pick up another pair immediately. I realize I sound like I own stock in the company but I don't. I just can't recommend them enough. I love, love my music and these are an amazing pair of headphones ESPECIALLY at this price point.

Acabo de recibirlos, super rápido el envío vía amazon premium ( 1 día y medio ), despues de estar descontento con unos phillips del mismo precio, los cuales aparte de entrecortarse el bluetooth, no sonaban muy allá. Compré estos por los comentarios, y la verdad, ha sido una sorpresa, al menos hasta el momento. El Bluetooth por ahora responde muy muy bien, 0 cortes en 1 hora, sonido sin cables casi igual que con cables, cosa difícil, normalmente suele ser peor con diferencia. Y lo mejor, los graves SÍ SUENAN, cosas que en otros auriculares de estos precios apenas se notan. Son muy muy cómodos, y los materiales aunque no son lo mejor, sí que son de una calidad buena y con un acabado y diseño muy bonito ( los rojos que yo tengo son preciosos ). La conectividad que tienen ( usb/bluetooth/cable ) hace que no te deje tirado como otros tipos de auriculares, lo que te da mucha movilidad y no dependes de tener la batería siempre. Y plegables, para que ocupen menos espacio y al guardarlos en la funda no se rompan! Desventajas, que el micro en el pc no funciona a no ser que se ponga en modo mono, por lo que no se puede jugar a juegos con ellos y que la funda hay que comprársela aparte. Los graves para algunas personas, aunque para mí están perfectos, en el peor de los casos con el móvil/pc/tablet se puede ecualizar. Probé en tienda física varios modelos de otras marcas hace un tiempo, y para encontrar algo parecido todo se iba a 120 € o más, y el sonido era el mismo. Recomendados al 100% si quieres algo con buen rendimiento y a buen precio! A partir de ahora, y si siguen funcionando como ahora mismo, August será sinónimo de calidad. I bought these headphones so I could listen to TV at my preferred louder volume than my wife who can hear me removing the top off a XXXX at 50 paces. They were the cheapest on the market I could find with aptX which syncs the TV and what you hear perfectly. Easy to connect and seem to be quality built. My only gripe is my ear only just fits inside the phones - older blokes like me high side of 70 need that extra size...maybe just another 5mm or so would do, so I need to wiggle them on the make a positive seal. (ears and nose are only body parts to grow in old age...damn!) Bottom line is I'm very happy with them.

The headphones are awesome! They fit my head perfectly which was my biggest worry. The padding and "leather" is super comfortable. I had a little trouble with pairing, until I re-read the instructions and then there was no issue (have to press and hold the + and - button for 3 seconds which is actually more like 5. The headphones let you know with a beep and red and blue flashing light when you have entered pairing mode). The sound via my cell phone with music was great. Good deep bass, maybe a bit too much, but I loved it! My biggest issue is with my PS3 and PS4. The PS3, the headphones paired no problem, but they can only be used for communication via mic and from other people (chatter so to speak). The PS3 is not capable of streaming the audio from games, movies, etc.. via bluetooth. Shoot I said to myself. No worries, the PS4 should be enabled! Well, no such luck testing it because the PS4 does not have the proper profiles for many Bluetooth devices (August Ep650 included), thus I am unable to pair them with my PS4. Since then, I have used them on my computer, using the stereo cable plugged into my speakers and that too works great. I have also ordered a bluetooth transmitter which I will hookup to my sound system. This will at least solve the "wireless" issue with my PS3 and PS4. Bottom line, the headphones themselves are great, sound great, feel great and look great. Feel a bit flimsy, but not much worse than my Nexxtech wireless headphones from the Source, which have sound "cuts out" issues.

Ich habe die Kopfhörer jetzt ein paar Tage und bin komplett zufrieden damit. Es werden wohl kaum noch andere Kopfhörer in dieser Preisklasse dementsprechend gut sein. Zunächst einmal zur Lieferung. Die Kopfhörer kamen 2 Tage nach Bestellung angeliefert. Bei dem Amazon Karton war eine Ecke stark eingedellt. Jedoch hat die Verpackung der Kopfhörer nichts abbekommen und ist unbeschadet. Der Lieferumfang beinhaltet die Kopfhörer ein AUX Kabel, ein Ladekabel und eine Bedienungsanleitung. Das Ladekabel hat wie z.B. ein gewöhnliches Handy Ladekabel ein USB Anschluss und kann somit auch an Computer genutzt werden. Jedoch wird kein Steckdosen Adapter mit geliefert. Die Qualität der Kopfhörer ist sehr gut. Der Klang ist sauber und der Bass EXTREM stark. Also wirklich, extrem. Wenn man die Lautstärke ganz aufdreht und ein Lied abspielt, welches Basslastig ist, kann man schon fast annehmen man stehe nahe einer Soundbox beim Musikexpress auf einer Kirmes. Der Bass lässt sich aber zur Not auch noch mit z.B. einer Equalizer App herunterschrauben. Aber dennoch ist es nicht so das der Bass so stark ist das sich der Rest unklar anhört. Ich würde sagen es ist eine gute Mischung gefunden worden. Die Verarbeitung der Kopfhörer sieht überraschend gut aus. Es ist nichts am wackeln und die Knöpfe an der rechten Seite sind stabil und funktionieren auch sehr gut. Die Kopfhörer liegen gut auf den Ohren und auch nach einer Stunde hatte ich nicht das Gefühl das es unangenehm wird sie zu tragen. Zu der Akku Laufzeit kann ich leider noch nicht all zu viel zu sagen. Ich habe die Kopfhörer direkt nach den auspacken für ein paar Stunden getragen und auch mit meinem Handy verbunden gehabt. Viel Musik gehört und es kam kein Zeichen von Akkuschwäche. Bei dem herstellen einer Bluetooth Verbindung mit meinem Handy (Samsung Galaxy Note 4) gab es keinerlei Probleme. Als ich die Kopfhörer das erste mal mit meinem Handy verbunden habe und die volle Lautstärke testen wollte, hatte ich mich erst gewundert da sie extrem leise waren. Dies lag aber daran das ich das Handy zwar auf volle Lautstärke gestellt habe, die Kopfhörer aber an der rechten Seite noch einmal separat lauter gestellt werden können. Nachdem ich dort auf volle Lautstärke gestellt habe, reicht es mein Handy auf 50 - 60 % einzustellen um eine angenehme Lautstärke zu erhalten. Fazit: Ich bin sehr überrascht über diese Kopfhörer und kann sie jedem nur weiter empfehlen. Der Preis ist mehr als gerechtfertigt. Die Verarbeitung ist sehr gut und auch der Klang und Bass ist überraschend gut. Was ich sehr nett fand war auch eine zusätzliche Email, welche ich von den Verkäufer erhalten habe, wo noch einmal ein paar zusammengefasste Tipps drin stehen. Wie z.B. das man den Bass mittels einer Equalizer App regeln kann. Und noch ein paar andere Tipps zum Aufladen, etc.. Jeder der für knapp 50 € gute Bluetooth Kopfhörer haben möchte kann hier nichts falsch machen.
