Works great with 8th graders
I bought this in anticipation that I'd have a noisy class. So the first day I used it, proved its productiveness. It monitored my class while I conferenced with several students. You can adjust the volume or decibels according to the level desired. It gives warnings by a flashing yellow light before buzzing loudly. You can even alter the buzz sound in exchange for your voice. It has a recording function to record your desired phrase. It can plug-in or function with batteries. Although my class wasn't as noisy as anticipated, the Yacker Tracker is a fun and friendly classroom decor. And my class loves it! It works for me.

Great Product!
We purchased this for our library. It is perfect for our need! The ability to program the noise level, the counter, and all the other features make this very useful! It is a little costly, but is working well for us.

Works great; not the best for completely silent situations.
We set this up for an American Sign Language classroom to remind students not to voice while signing in class. It was fine for the students sitting near the YT, but did not pick up on students just a few seats away. Turning up the sensitivity made it too sensitive and the next row was still out of range. We also tested it in an oral language classroom and could see the impact right away when students were left for pair work. The lights were great then! We did not use the siren feature for our adult classroom situations, but could see how it might be popular in K-12 settings.

I really like mine. I am an art teacher
I really like mine. I am an art teacher. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is bc I see two "minor" flaws with the product. 1.) many reviews are correct in stating that it is too sensitive at one setting and not sensitive enough at another. 50 decibels is the lowest setting. This is about the noise level of a library. 60 decibels is the next setting and 70 the next. I have to keep it set at 70 decibels bc 60 is far too sensitive but at 70 decibels it doesn't seem to be sensitive enough so it still ends up getting pretty noisy in my classroom. 2.) the alarm is great (I have not used the voice setting) but if it gets loud enough in the room the volume of the alarm is not loud enough. I have only had that problem once so far though in the month that I have owned it. All in all I am really happy I have this product. It's pretty pricey and cheaply made but works decently. It's honestly helped me a lot so far. Just make sure you have clear rules about it to your students bc they WILL try to set it off on purpose to be silly and play around.

Yacker Tracker works great for calming loud, unruly children!
We bought this for a friend whose elementary school aged children were severely allergic to the word “No” and to tasks such as putting up toys, getting dressed, or going to bed on time – especially if guests were present. The children's “allergic reaction” symptoms included yelling, wailing, and temper tantrums. The Yacker Tracker can be set to go off at levels ranging from complete silence to “television in background” levels. It also counts the number of violations. It also says “Quiet, Please!” in multiple languages if noise levels are exceeded. It worked almost instantly to reduce and eliminate their “allergic reactions.” At first, the children tried to trigger it on purpose. After loosing privileges and rewards if the Yacker Tracker went off, this ended quickly. Highly recommended for this purpose!

Works on adults as well.
I put it in my busy veterinary clinic. The staff is crazy offended but the noise level has come down.

Returned and bought again.
I bought this back in January of 2014 to use in my art classroom. My room has poor acoustics as it is and it was hard to have a conversation with someone 2 feet away due to noise level. I bought this product and tried it for a week, and after 5 days the green bulb burned out. I sent it back and imminently got another from the same distributor. I love this product. It takes a few classes for the students to get used to it, some will intentionally try to set it off the first few days but if you stay on top of the students they will get it and now I don't need to remind them to be quiet. They police themselves and it's one less stress I have to deal with. I teach grades 5-9 and use it with all my students. My 8th-9th graders don't tend to set it off but my 5th-7th graders do, it's still helpful to have even with high school students.

Not Useful
The product appeared to be quality, but it was not sensitive enough. Five students talking in normal volume within less than 10 feet of the product did not activate it. I was hoping it would help conrol noise while I was meeting with small groups in my 2nd grade classroom. By the second day of use, my students knew that it took a lot of noise to make it go to red. Additionally, every time you turn the product off, it resets to it's defalut noise and volume settings, so you need to reset it every time you turn it on. There were no directions included with the product, so I was not even able to troubleshoot, to see if I could get it to be more sensitive. The worst it that the seller has a 15% restocking and won't accept the product back unless it is in new condition. How do you test a product without opening the box? Don't waste your money.
