This truck only works half the time. We use it for five minutes, stop for 2 minutes, then it stops working. Anybody else have this problem?

We did, it was a piece of junk! Never worked right.

Is there a tool to open the battery pack underneath the car?

No yhrrr isn’t you need a small screw driver

Does it have two remote controls?

No just one controller. Controller feels cheap but the truck doesn’t

Do they come in different frequencies? For ex. If I got both my boys one for Christmas, will they be able to control them separately at the same time?

Yes, RC toys like this don't intercept with others even though it's the same product. Manufacturers sets a specific unique radio channel to each duo and idk how they do that haha. All RC toys has unique serial numbers. It doesn't have a built in WIFI or Bluetooth so you don't have to worry about one controlling both of the truck(toy).
