Silver Star Gravity Feed Steam Iron - ES-90

I bought this for a very good friend who recently opened a alteration and repair shop. She told me she loves it. It is used every day and so far there have not been any problems. The iron is turned on every morning when she opens shop, and is turned off at the end of the day. The iron comes with the mineralizer. June 27, 2014. I gave this iron 5 stars. After 1 year, the iron started to leak water through the sole plate when turned off. I called the manufacturer and was told to send iron back. It was replaced with another iron. Shortly after the same problem happened. Again the company was notified and again was told to send iron back. I was told that because the iron is now out of warranty it would cost 45.00 to repair. I paid the fee and got the iron back. Two months later again the same problem. After many calls to the company I was told to send the iron back. They said the problem will be fixed at no charge. I got the iron back around March of this year. Now it is June 2014 and the iron is still leaking water. My friend said forget it I will purcahse a different iron. I am embarrassed over this whole situation as this was a gift when she opened her alteration shop. DO NOT BUY. I WOULD NOT GIVE THIS IRON 1 STAR NOW.

The iron has great steam, easy to use, stays hot. Tailor iron.

I've had this unit for a while now, very solid, professional unit. I'd highly recommend. Cable caddies are a little goofy. but nothing bad enough to knock a star off. could just use zip ties. 2 year update: iron stopped working, after inspection and moving some wires around it started working again. What I found inside is a very impressive and serviceable unit. Everything inside is meant to be replaced. This isn't your modern plastic throw away iron. Screws sink into metal not plastic parts so even a hard drop won't damage anything but your floor or foot. It weights 5lbs which is fantastic, it means you don't have to push hard to get a result. Just glide it around and let its own heft do the work. Brown rust water is a problem if you don't purge the line before you turn it off. But this is the last iron you will buy.
