This is the real deal! Buy it IMMEDIATELY
I rarely write reviews, but this product is the real deal.1. It's a lotion like cream, which makes so much sense when you think about it, so you can get a very even layer everywhere, which is not the case with sprays.2. It doesn't smell and dries fast3. It did the job PERFECTLY. No bites despite very mosquito/etc. heavy environments. All around top.

Effective Protection in a Convenient Lotion
If you're looking for a reliable insect repellent that doesn't compromise on comfort, the Sawyer Products SP564 Premium Insect Repellent Lotion with 20% Picaridin is a standout choice.Exceptional Protection Against Biting InsectsThis lotion contains 20% Picaridin, which has proven to be as effective as DEET in repelling a wide range of pests. In my personal experience, it provided up to 14 hours of protection against mosquitoes and ticks, and up to 8 hours against flies, gnats, and chiggers. Whether you're hiking in the woods or enjoying a backyard barbecue, this lotion keeps biting insects at bay.Non-Greasy and Odorless FormulaOne of the biggest advantages is its non-greasy texture. The lotion absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a sticky residue, making it comfortable to wear all day. It's also virtually odorless, so you won't be left with that strong chemical smell common with other repellents.Skin-Friendly and Suitable for the Whole FamilyThe formula is gentle on the skin, which is great for those with sensitivities. I've used it on both adults and children without any irritation. Plus, it's safe to apply on clothing and gear without causing damage or stains.Convenient Size and Easy ApplicationThe 4-ounce tube is perfect for travel and fits easily into backpacks or pockets. The lotion format allows for precise application, ensuring you cover all exposed areas thoroughly. This makes it more efficient than aerosol sprays that can miss spots or get carried away by the wind. Why Choose Picaridin Over DEET?Picaridin is a newer repellent that offers similar efficacy to DEET but with several benefits:No Damage to Gear: Unlike DEET, Picaridin doesn't harm plastics or synthetic materials.Pleasant to Use: It's less oily and has no strong odor.Safe and Effective: Provides long-lasting protection without compromising safety.Pros:Long-lasting insect protectionNon-greasy, fast-absorbing lotionOdorless and gentle on skinSafe for use on clothing and gearCompact and travel-friendly sizeCons:Requires reapplication after swimming or heavy sweatingFinal VerdictThe Sawyer Products SP564 Premium Insect Repellent Lotion is a must-have for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone looking to protect themselves from biting insects comfortably and effectively. Its superior formulation and ease of use make it a top choice among insect repellents on the market.Highly recommended for peace of mind during outdoor activities.

Solid protection
Mosquitos love to use me as a buffet and I was sick of it. I was so used to hiking in the winter that I forgot about bugs. But as soon as spring hit they emerged full force. I bought the Picaridin lotion and was blessed to feel no bugs wanted any part of me now. I am basically invisible. The lotion goes on nicely and goes clear. I thought it would give me those white lines but nope, everything felt super clean unlike other products that feel sticky and greasy. I love this sawyer in scent repellent because it also helps against those flies that bite. I put it on once and I am pretty much good for the rest of the day unless I am sweating a lot. Perfect for hiking or backpacking.

TBD -- highly-rated, safe and effective
I bought this highly-rated product at the end of August, but won’t be able to test it in the bug-infested woods until October.Consequently, I’ll update this review after I’ve used it in the woods.Sawyer's picaridin does NOT have an expiration date because it’s an extremely stable molecule(Sawyer's customer service agent said it’s stable for 10 years from its manufacturing date)..According to information on the Internet, Picaridin (also known as Icaridin in some countries)is widely considered one of the safest and most effective insect repellents available today.• Pros: Longest-tested; 12–14 hour protection; trusted brand• Texture: Smooth, dries quickly, non-greasy• Fragrance: Low to none• Best for All-day coverage in tropical and temperate climatesLow Toxicity to Humans• Not classified as a carcinogen, mutagen, or reproductive toxin• No evidence of neurotoxicity, even in long-term animal studies• No significant skin absorption when applied topically (remains mostly on skin surface)• Safe for use on children as young as 2 months, per CDC and WHO guidelines________________________________________Skin and Eye Safety• Non-irritating to most skin types• Less likely to cause skin reactions than DEET• Does not damage plastics, eyeglasses, synthetic fabrics, or gear, unlike DEET• Mild eye irritation can occur if accidentally rubbed into eyes — rinse with water________________________________________Pregnancy and Breastfeeding• The EPA states that no reproductive effects have been observed in animal studies• Generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but as with all topical chemicals, use the minimum amount needed________________________________________Environmental Safety• Not considered toxic to birds or mammals• Low aquatic toxicity, though should not be intentionally washed into waterways• Does not bioaccumulate in the environmentPicaridin (20%) is considered safe to apply on most exposed skin areas, including:• Face (including nose, ears, forehead, cheeks, and jawline)• Neck• Arms and hands• Legs and feetBut as with any topical repellent, how you apply it makes a difference for safety and comfort.
