What is the "thiourea"?  ptc is a type of thiorea, but there is a separate bottle with ptc...  is it prop?

The PTC is propylthiauracil, the thiouria is a different compound which also tastes bitter and is genetically determined.  Hope this helps.

Where are the instructions?  Is there an order to tasting the strips? Please help.

Shelf life--What is the average time I can expect to use these before they expire? It could take  two or more years to use them up

This product does not have an expiry date on it. Over time it will lose potency, similar to spices in your kitchen. But many of our customers use these strips well over two years after ordering them and they continue to be useful in determining if someone is a supertaster. Looks like people are doing this for fun. Is this a serious test? We have big problems getting my son to eat and try new foods. Looking for help.

It can be used for either. I teach a nutrition course, so the students try it mostly for fun, but I have found, anecdotally, that many of the self-proclaimed "picky eaters" do test positive as a super taster. There are 4 different strips, one of which is a control. You just touch the strips to your tongue, and depending on the # of taste buds, you will (or won't) taste anything. Super tasters do tend to eat less veg because what is slightly bitter to most is overwhelmingly for them.
Kids by nature don't like new flavors, so often small bites, presented frequently will help. Good luck!
