Will this check speaker phase also?

This unit checks continuity so if one one end your hi signal is connected to the low tab, it will show the wires crossed.

Does it show any short, even temporary, like the Swizztech does? That's super handy for finding intermittent shorts.

I believe the Behringer CT100 and CT200 will test for shorts - even intermittent. That’s basically what “Installed Cable Tester” mode does.

Is there a soft case that will fit this?

Not that I'm aware of, but then again I haven't been looking. I build studios for a living and I just put it in my huge toolbox along with the rest of the equipment.
