Norton has been my favorite for years
I have used Norton Antivirus products for years, since Peter Norton (way back in the late 1980s) produced the product. Norton has always been a faithful and good protector, and only a couple times over all these years have I experienced a slight infection that was not caught. I have recommended Norton to many people who, also for many years, have used it successfully. Norton protection comes in at least 3 varieties: Antivirus, Internet Security, and 360. While Norton adds additional features to their basic Antivirus variety, the other two do require extra resources to operate, and for some computers that do not have sufficient memory installed, the overload can slow things down some. I prefer the Antivirus variety, since I have other protections in place: a hardware firewall, a router, plus the windows supplied software firewall. The Antivirus variety does not require near the memory overhead that the other varieties use. However, with large amounts of memory (8 GB or better) and a 64 bit operating system, overhead issues should not be present. For older computers with limited memory installed, then the Antivirus variety can be a better choice. This protection automatically keeps itself updated with the latest software revisions and the latest malware definitions, it operates in real time protection whenever the computer is turned on, and scans the computer while the computer is on but is idle. This protection is "install" and let it do its job by itself. However, anyone can manually scan and do a load of other features. I cannot fault a protection that does exactly what it is supposed to do, keeps my computers free from malware, spyware, and viruses. I recommend Norton to anyone.

Don't know what happened !
I was simply upgradeing Norton as my three year subscription was running out. I read all instructions and followed them exactly as printed. During installation the Program told me an older version of Norton was found and suggested I remove it before going further. Norton gave me the choice to do it myself or the program could do it. I decided to let Norton remove the older version. Than I began to think that the old Norton shoud have been up-to-date as I paid exra for updates with the original purchase. Well folks too, too late. The new Norton took over and caused so many problems it was sickening. After the finished screen appeared I was advised to restart my machine which I did. When the computer booted surprise, surprise there was no new nor old Norton. Not only was the old Norton erased but the new Norton never loaded. On top of that I noticed I was getting error messages which I never did get before on this machine. I did the best I could to revive my machine to an earlier date but still get a couple of problems from Norton looking for the installation disk. I have no idea what that is about. Try to get Norton's customer service, LOL. You are put on hold and after a half hour wait your call is dropped. I tried that twice. Bottom line! Amazon's return policy does not allow returns of opened software. I had no problem in getting a return authorization plus free return shipping due to defective merchandise. Thank you Amazon. Shame on you Norton.

It works like Norton usually works.
I know what to expect from the installation and use, after having Norton products for years. You can customize or automate and I think I am getting mostly good protection on my computers. Still, I have had it scan files and check addresses that are dangerous, and some files which are heavily downloaded and safe microsoft files, and I get the ridiculously useless response that it is not a known file. It has blocked a bunch of malware, tracking cookies, etc. which bog down performance, so it is definitely worth the money.

Great value...great product...
I have been using Norton Antivirus for several years. I like the ease of use and the protection it has given my PC's. I did have an issue when I installed the latest version. I needed to uninstall it and re-install. I just followed the on-screen prompts and had no further issues. I want to echo what's already been stated, here: If you want to save some money, purchase this on Amazon. If you renew through Norton, you will pay top dollar. If you buy at Amazon, you may get a steep discount... The best thing about this product was once I installed it and registered it, I was able to access the site on-line and download protection for 2 other PC's. If you have multiple PC's that need anti virus protection, this is the product for you. Stellar product as well as great on-line and phone support!

Great when it works. "Norton has encountered an error"
This is the first norton product I've had in the past 10 years that simply fails from time to time. "Norton has encountered an error" is becoming a common, randomly activating theme. This means I'm left with no working anti-virus at random intervals. The errors will not automatically correct, and norton's recommended manual fixes have not worked for more than 12 hours or so. Errors 8506, 421 come back again and again and norton doesn't seem to have a working solution now about a month after these problems started cropping up. When I re-gain my patience I'm going to try to revert to norton anti-virus 2012, a far superior product. It looks like norton is back to selling products that act like viruses unfortunately.

Norton Antivirus 2013 - 1 User / 3 PC
The above scans my pcs for viruses and protect them; great product. It's cheaper to buy instead of Norton 360 if you are going to use their server for backup.

Nice experience with Norton Antivirus 2013. But I also unhappy with Norton, because they don't launch any antivirus for windows 10.
