PYKMAX PICK SYSTEM A MAJOR HELP FOR HANDS
This is the second Pymkax pick holder and pick I have purchased in a short time -- one is for backup and to keep in my second guitar case. I also added a couple of packs of replacement picks -- AND I have used standard picks MODIFIED with a DREMEL TOOL and installed in the Pykmax pick holder. Like most guitarists, I have favorite picks of various materials and shapes for different uses. Or perhaps just different moods. This little gadget is held loosely in your hand -- seems as if it doesn't do much, but it DOES keep your hand in a more relaxed position. I have arthritis in my hands -- but my right hand was crushed in the early 1990s. It could not be properly set. The doctor injected my hand with pain killer. Then he put my hand in a position in which I could move fingers and thumb properly and taped it that way until it healed. Believe it or not, I have full use of my hand -- even with some arthritis problems.HOWEVER, playing the guitar for any length of time apparently tenses the muscles in my hand enough to cause a couple of joints to freeze up and sort of pop before they behave normally. There is no sensible way to fix this problem considering the condition my hand is in. Playing the guitar WITH A RELAXED HAND is a great help.I think honestly that playing with a relaxed hand in probably a good idea for anybody -- Pykmax has a good product with LOTS of ways to develop that product -- provide more varieties of picks -- produce a pykmax which might be adjustable for size or pykmaxes in more sizes -- manufacture a pykmax which would hold the pick of the user's choice -- lots of ways to approach increasing a customer following.I think this is a great gadget. I see from customer reviews that a lot of people LIKE the Pykmax. I hope the company and the buying public won't be overly influenced by the sort of "professional snob" reviews -- Of course, there are loads of players who don't need such a thing -- Yes, if you're a pro, it might seem like a useless gadget -- Just wait til you get a little older and don't want to quit playing the guitar. Unfortunately the reviews in the professional publications often seem to belittle an item which could and should be a success commercially.I wish the Pykmax people success. I hope they will maintain the quality fo their product and persist in their good work.I, for one, am very satisfied with this product. I hope to see a lot more of it in the future.

Great pick!
This pick is quite a unique design. I have been having issues with pain in my thumb and searching for anything that can help. The Pykmax works great. It really helps isolate what you are doing. The material feels durable. I got the purple 1mm pick size. I do like thicker Jazz III style picks though so thats why I give this a 4 but I have heard from them that they are going to release a thicker still so that is very excited. I have found that this helps my picking be more steady.

Useless
I've been playing for 15 years and I can't even hold this thing. It's way too small, and it forces you to hold the pick at the wrong angle.

yeah so so
Like So Many have said its a good idea but for any one with some experience it feels a little strange, mostly because of the angle of the pick doesn't feel right and causes a lot more pick noise. I think this product would benefit if the axis of the pick could swivel. so its good in theory but just ok in reality

Great Idea but Poorly Implemented
Your picking will improve when using this pick in just a few minutes. The pistol grip is a great idea and makes it much easier to hold the pick perpendicular to the string as well as make picking a little more rhythmic. I still have some problems with it:1. The thickest pick is 1mm whereas I find accuracy to be hard to maintain with a pick under 2mm.2. The pick has a rounded point. The way I and many others have learned to hold a pick is to hold it perpendicular to the string with as little of the point showing as possible. The rounded point makes this difficult.3. The actual pick part is too long. This also makes it difficult to control how much of the point shows through the fingers.4. The plastic holding the pick to the grip is flimsy. Sadly, my Pykmax has already broken. Since the replacement picks are not yet available, I'm back to using my Jazz III's. (I'm not sinking another $15 into another one of these.)As other reviews have stated, this would have been an amazing idea had it allowed you to attach a pick of your choice. The replacement picks Pykmax is coming out will still not address my issues with this. I'd really only recommend this to someone spending most of their time strumming an acoustic.

Read this amazingly good review
I always played with just my fingers because I played a more classical style on a nylon guitar. So even when I started on the electric I continued to use my fingers because I was always dropping a regular pick, putting it down to do some fingering and then loosing it, and felt limited by the regular pick. Until now! With this I never loose my pick, I can palm the pykmax to free up my fingers whenever I need, and it has taken my skills to a new level.A lot of people don't like the pykmax and give a variety of excuses in the reviews, but the real reason most people complain is simply because it's not the traditional way of doing it. I'll address the main complaints briefly."Too small": I have huge hands, like seriously, and no problem with it's size."Picks wear out": Yes they do and this was my only complaint for a while until I realized the importance for them to wear out. You see, the pick wearing out tells you when to replace the pick to avoid the 'hinge' from wearing out and breaking mid performance or song."The pick thickness isn't right": there are like 6 different kinds of packs of picks. For goodness sake, get another one!"Expensive": I have had the same Pykmax body for 5 years now and go through about a pack of refills a year. So not expensive in the long run.Everyone might not like it, but this doesn't change the superb quality of this product.
