The three 6mm handle pins are only cosmetic. They are really only 2mm rivets
The three 6mm handle pins are only cosmetic. They are designed to look robust and chunky, but they are in actual fact, only 2mm aluminium rivets holding the handle scales on. They corrode away after about 6 years. The handle scales fell off my 26.5cm classic. I had to drill out the thin corroded aluminium rivets and replace them with marine grade, (316) stainless steel pins. You shouldn't have to do this on a knife as expensive as a Wusthof. Not impressed, they should be fitting stainless steel pins as standard on a knife like this.
