nice looking, very sturdy, and great value
Great looking cabinet! The next step up would be hundreds more! You are only paying about $100-ish - this is a great cabinet for the price! It's made of thick particle board with light maple laminated sides showing, but looks very good (its not a thin vinyl over the particle board, but a nice thick laminate). It's very sturdy, partly because of construction and partly because it is a legal cabinet - that's one reason I went for the legal-sized cabinet (I'm using legal hanging folders, but letter-sized folders within those). Very roomy - the drawers pull out fully, except for about three inches - and does not wobble. It was packed extremely well to protect the pieces from harm during shipment and had all parts needed (though not all marked correctly, so lay out before assembling fully). As some reviewers noted, the handles are a bit cheap (I can paint them or change those if they bother me too much). These last two small issues are just not a huge deal and should not detract from a great value. Check out the pic I provided - we have our file cabinet in the coat closet, but rolls out easily on the wood floor.

Solid File Cabinet; Great Customer Service
Bought one because its size fit our space just right. Very happy with how solidly made and attractive it is, particularly for its price point. Also got outstanding and immediate service from Nexera when there was a minor flaw that appeared to be transit damage; they sent over the required replacement part (plus a bit more) right away, and all service inquiries were dealt with quickly and politely. Liked it so much that we bought another unit--extremely pleased with both!About assembly: all standard if you've ever self-assembled before, except that each drawer does have a few "free style" screws that you must screw in by hand. Correct placement is easy and obvious, but the small size of those screws makes it probably the only "slow" part of the assembly process. I think that even this would be super easy if you had dainty fingers or could get the aid of a smaller person.

Easy assembly if you plan and pay attention
PROS: *Instructions were well-written, and the illustrations make it almost impossible to misunderstand if you pay attention. *Small parts were bagged and separated nicely. *CNC was set up fairly well for production, all holes in the proper place. *Looks great and functions well when finished.CONS: It does not all fit as tightly as premium furniture pieces - it IS mdf done with mill/router, after all. That being said - *Recommend using a good wood glue throughout during assembly, like Titebond. It will take a little longer, but worth the time. *Locations where slides attach to the bottoms of the drawers ARE NOT pre-drilled, leads to the wood trying to split (you'll hear it) when the screws are put in. Do yourself a favor, and mark-then-drill a small pilot hole for each of the 6 screws per drawer (3 per side), then use your Titebond in the screw threads when attaching these rails! *If you assemble tightly (not overly so) and securely, the top plastic rails for your hanging folders will NOT fit; be prepared to do some trimming on one end of each of the four rails. These are all things you might expect from DIY furniture pieces, just be prepared. Quality today is not the same as quality for the same items 15 years ago. But with patience and forethought, you can make it work... even better than designed.

horrible product, disastrous customer service
This is an update to the review I posted below a couple of weeks ago.Nexera is so incompetent that they only mailed me ONE of the missing parts I requested. I rechecked my request, and I clearly stated that I was missing two of the "Z" drawer parts. They only sent me one.Not that it helped. I have "completed" assembly of the one drawer, and it doesn't even work. The front portion just falls out. I don't know if I'm supposed to put glue in the screw holes or what the deal is.This is by far the WORST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER PURCHASED FROM AMAZON.I am also highly suspicious that the people who said it was easy to assemble are either (a) paid spokespeople or (b) do-it-yourself types with a lot of mechanical skill. (Oh, and I guess they were not still missing parts after TWO shipments from Nexera.) In any case, if somebody actually knows how to get the drawer to stay together, I wish they would tell me.Then again, I've already spent about four hours on this, four hours of my life I will never get back. Worst Amazon purchase decision EVER.Run, do not walk, away from this product!!!! Go to a store and purchase an assembled filing cabinet, or find somebody that ships one assembled.*********************This is way too complicated to assemble--I feel extremely misled by the reviewers who said it was OK. First of all, there are seven different kinds of screws. Really? Why can't you just use one or two kinds of screws? Some of them are really tiny, which means you have to use your tiniest screwdriver, the one that is most likely to get a lousy grip and strip the little piddly screw.Secondly, I'm missing at least two parts, possibly more. I spent 1 hour and 45 minutes on this before realizing I am missing the backs of the drawers. (Believe me, I tried to spread out the parts at the beginning to see if they were all there, but it was not easy.) So I just "contacted the seller" to ask them to ship me the "Z" parts. Since "Z" probably looks like "2" in the email form, I am worried this communication is not going to go smoothly.If/when they send me the missing parts, I'm hoping to finish it in another half-hour. Quality looks average. So three stars. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I hope it works out OK. I ordered this from Amazon because I live in the city and don't have a car, but I wish I had gone to Office Depot to buy something and put it in the back of a taxi. I ordered this because the reviewers said assembly was fairly easy, but IT IS NOT. Plus I have the aggravation of missing part of the drawers. Very, very aggravating.

great assembly instructions
I was able to assemble both filing cabinets I bought without the need of watching the video. The written instructions were clear and pieces were labelled making it easy to assemble. It says on the box that 2 people are needed to move and assemble the units but I managed fine. 5 ft 2 in 126 lbs. :0) Looks great and without placing the wheels on the second unit I was able to stack them.

Generally solid file system with clear instructions.
It's a solid, well-designed cabinet with clear instructions, but I encountered two issues. The first was a fairly large and complex scratch on one of the drawer fronts (lower). I can live with it but it's annoying. The second issue I had was with the file holder strips. These attach to the top of the drawers from which the files hang. The strips were too long and needed to be cut down by about ΒΌ inch or else they wouldn't have fit. This might have been an insurmountable obstacle for some people. Luckily I have a saw and cut them down to size. The drawers came in a rather heavy package that had been repaired with tape so I can only assume that some kind of accident had occurred.Other than that it's well designed and sturdy.

Better than other reviews would have you believe
I bought the Black one. All the parts were included, the handles were actually metal. There wasn't a touch up pen included but one wasn't needed as all the wood was in good condition and no significant scratches. The instructions were pretty easy - only took about 45 - 60 minutes to put together. All in all a good unit that feels solid and doesn't shake around a lot with a printer on it.My only complaint is the plastic guides for the hanging files. They are a bit annoying to get on the drawers and they aren't really secured with screws or glue. They were also a bit longer than the drawer so I had to like pinch part of it at the wood seam at the back by loosening a screw, tucking it in and tightening the screw. But they work and it wasn't that big of a deal. One other thing I'll mention is that inside the drawers was not Black. It's a Natural Maple color.

Really nice file cabinet
This is an awesome filing cabinet - really sturdy and looks great. I discovered a piece was missing when I was putting together. I contacted the company and they immediately sent the missing piece. I was super pleased with the customer service! I like the cabinet so much and the great customer service that I ordered a 2nd cabinet. :)
