Has helped a very tense cat!
A friend of mine adopted a cat about a year or so ago. This poor kitty looked to have come from a pretty dire situation. It was a purebred cat that had obviously been used as part of a breeding mill. She was extremely frightened of nearly everyone and everything. She didn't even know how to play with toys and would only chase her tail, a sign that she spent much of her time cooped up in a cage. (She now knows how to play with toys!) My friend, who has had a lot of experience with various cats, wasn't even initially able to pet her. Over time she's opened up and can be pet, but even now you have to be careful with how you pet her or she will freak out. Picking her up isn't even an option, which makes any sort of medical or preventative care truly difficult. Now while my friend has been helping this beautiful cat adapt to a normal, loving household, the cat still has issues with stress and anxiety. She will often over-groom, leading to scabs and bald patches in her coat. Fleas have contributed to this some, but the main issue with her has been and still is anxiety and stress. We have some calming diffusers and those have helped, but more was needed. I got these just under a week ago and they've made a marked difference, particularly when paired with the Bayer II flea treatment. There's a marked improvement in her coat and demeanor, plus she's easier to approach. She doesn't really even react as much when you pass by her, something that's really nice as cats should be able to fully relax in their homes. I can't vouch for the taste myself, obviously, but I can say that the cat absolutely loves them. My friend has another cat that doesn't need these, but also loves how they taste so he has to be kept away or he'll try to figure out ways to steal her morning treat - not that she gives up these treats willingly! It's already become a daily morning ritual that she looks forward to. I'm absolutely buying more of these, particularly since they're so reasonably priced! I purchased some pricier ones at PetSmart that neither cat would even touch (CatMX), so it's nice that I can get good, helpful treats at a reasonable price!

Takes a bit of edge off, without drugging the cat. UPDATE: things went bad after a few months.
Our young adult cat sometimes has an excess of kitten energy, to the point of being a problem. These chews take a bit of the edge off her behavior, without making her seem drugged. She's just a tad calmer, but with her alertness and playfulness intact. Unfortunately, she will not eat them (she just never eats treats of any kind), but we grind them to powder in a mortar and pestle and mix it into her wet food. UPDATE: When we first adopted our cat, she had gone through stress at the shelter and before, and they were giving her prescription calming aids. We didn't want to drug her, but started giving her these chews, which seemed to take the edge off, so we continued. Recently she started acting more anxious, a bit aggressive, restless, and perhaps even hallucinating. We gave her a double dose of the chew and it seemed worse, so we stopped it completely. Now she is so much calmer, getting on our laps again, just generally back to the sweet cat she had been. I don't know why, but it's pretty clear she started having a paradoxical reaction to the chews. After looking into it, people can react that way to l-theanine, with anxiety rather than being calmer, so it may be the l-theanine. It doesn't seem like colostrum or thiamine would do that. We dealt with a paradoxical reaction in another cat, but it was to Xanax, which literally (and I'm using "literally" in the correct way) had her climbing the walls all night.

Too Tasty, Short span after repeated use
I started slow with my cat, he is 16 pounds. I gave him one or two and they worked so well at first. I was floored, he was an angel on a drive around the block. Next day, I had to take him on a train and I upped it to around 5. They wore off after 20 minutes, so I upped to around 12. Worked amazing, my cat loves the treats and didnโt mind eating more to cope with his feelings. But thenโฆ I had them in a bag on a shelf. He loved these treats so much that he jumped up on the shelf and pulled them out of the bag. I came home to a cat ten times hyper than I ever saw him as a kitten. At first, I was nervous of him getting sick as he tore open the bag and ate an unknown amount. But he was fineโฆ just WIRED. The opposite of the intention of the treats. Hopefully, itโs just a little intense for a night and it wears off, but beware - cats go nuts if they get too hungry for the treats.

This works
These work really well with my cat. If I know that fireworks or construction works will be happening, I crush and put it in her morning wet food. At times, she seems a bit edgy, or nervous (like maybe there are stray cats around) - so I would give her one then too. Helps her to calm down without loosing her natural alert instincts. Good, natural product.

Either my cat is too old, or this product doesn't work...
I have a 15+ year old cat who's been with me for the majority of my life. She's been with me since childhood and when the time came for me to move out of my parent's place - the cat came with me. However as my cat is getting older, her behavior is also changing. What was once a relatively chill and calm cat who helped me manage my anxiety with her presence and only really meowed loudly/excessively when necessary, has developed a habit of yowling at all hours of the night while I'm trying to sleep, when I'm on the phone and when I need to work (my work involves recording/filming, making this meow-bombing very inconvenient). The cat also has a clean bill of health, making this new behavior doubly strange... Granted, I fully accept the cat has her own anxiety: she had anxiety during the initial move, she's the only pet in the household, she's become a cat living with 3 or 4 humans to a cat living with one. My work either involves me going out to work or bunkering down at my computer doing work for hours at a time, but the classic "just spend more time with the cat/make her feel special" hasn't been too effective at stopping the yowling either. She has a full bowl of food, full bowl of water, plenty of toys she doesn't really use (again - older cat) - so what's with the loud meowing? I figured now would be the time to get calming treats - if this cat loves anything, it's food (and treats are cheaper than an air diffuser). Sadly, these treats were the first result and I've come to the conclusion that either the treats only have a 50% effectiveness rate or that my cat may just be too old for these treats to be effective... Some nights, she'll get a single calming treat before bed and I sleep like a baby without getting woken up at 4am by meow-bombing. Other nights (even after one or two treats), I'll be hearing the song of her people... Even while trying to work during the day, the treats can't seem to keep the cat quiet or calm enough - her cute, normal, healthy meows replaced with howls that can't be healthy for her and throw a wrench in our human and cat roommate relationship... No amount of talking softly, petting or bonding with her will stop the meowling. Granted, these treats are NOT a sedative - I didn't want a sedative for the cat. I just wanted a treat that had the right ingredients that would reduce whatever feeling is making my cat howl and cry out for the cat gods of mythology. But again: these treats' effectiveness might just be a coin flip or my cat is just too old. As it's my first time using calming treats at all, this has been pretty discouraging and while I will continue looking for something that can help my cat and prevent her from meowing herself sick - I'm going to be a lot more apprehensive about it and won't be buying these again. I'm just happy she seems to like the taste - so at least they're still functional as normal cat treats for her.

Calms my cat
I was not to sure about buying this for my cat, because this was the first time to order anything like this. I read the reviews and I thought I would give them a try. My cat is scared of thunder storms and hides under the bed or her back will ripple during the storm depends on how strong the thunder is to what she will do. I gave her a treat before a storm was approaching and she did very well, no going under the bed or her back did not ripple. They are big in sizes, but sometimes they are moist and sometimes the treats are hard. When they are hard I crumble them up and add some water, they get soft. So, she think it is wet food and eats them with no problem. I do not give my cats wet food but I do add wet food to her treat and mix it up and she has no trouble eating them also. Just some suggestion because I have read that other reviews state that the treats are hard. They do have a smell to them but that does not bother her. The smell is like a strong vitamin smell, but they work for her to keep her nice and calm. This is my second time to order this product and I will keep on ordering. Yes, I would recommend this product.

YOU CAN TAKE THE CAT OUT OF THE ALLEYโฆ BUT YOU CANโT TAKE THE ALLEY OUT OF THE CAT
OUR JEKYLL AND HYDE PETITE RESCUE CAT A while back, we rescued a poor little kitten who showed up on our doorstep. She was completely feral, and our daughter worked with her for a couple weeks to make her tame. Now she is one of the sweetest of catsโฆ except that she has this Jekyll and Hyde thing going on. BULLY You see, we also have a gentle giant male cat that is about twice her size. Unfortunately, she sometimes bullies him mercilessly. Not always, but sometimes she gets into a mood where she stalks him, shrieks at him, and then chases him with a vengeance. She also flips out when she is startled by him. Iโm sure all of this behavior is related to her feral days when she had to protect herself and she had to forage for food. IT REALLY WORKS! โ REACTION SIMILAR TO AFTER A KITTEN NURSES So, in desperation, we decided to give this product a try. IT REALLY WORKS! Our little alley cat starts to knead blankets and then gradually falls asleep. Itโs almost like she had just nursed from her mama. Iโm sure the colostrum plays a major role in this aspect. BOTTOM LINE โ YOUR RESULT MAY BE DIFFERENT, BUT EVEN SO, THESE MAKE A GREAT TREAT Bottom line: Every cat is different, so you might not experience a similar result. However, given the low price point, itโs worth a shot. I will say that both our cats gobble up these treatsโฆ evidently, they taste great. So, even if you get a different result, your cat will probably enjoy this product as an occasional special treat.

We WERE pretty happy with this
Update - July 27, 2023 Until recently, my cat has eagerly eaten 1 of these treats before bedtime for an entire year. I donโt know if they changed the recipe or made a bad batch, but he will not eat from the most recent package I bought - and I bought 2 bags in June. I thought about trying the treats from the other bag, but they both have the same lot number. My current plan is to see if Petco has these with a different lot #. Will buy a package to try if they do. Might try contacting Pet Naturals as well. I called these my catโs chill pill, because he would not be as annoying to me or his sister after taking. The lot number on the package he wonโt eat is - 541202001 0325 Original review - about June 2022 You will need to figure out how this best works for your situation. We have 2 sibling cats, age 5. The boy annoys the girl frequently. She growls when he gets near. When he goes after her and they run and tussle, she screams. There is never blood, but we'd prefer not to deal with this. I originally gave both cats a calming treat around 5 p.m. with dinner. The treats are kinda large so I just break them in half. They both really liked them and I could tell they made both cats pretty mellow fairly quickly. We went through one whole bag and then I was feeling like the effects were not lasting very long. We were having some blow-ups -- lots of screaming -- around midnight. I decided to skip giving our female a calming treat, because if her brother wouldn't annoy her she'd be fine. AND I switched the timing on the treat. I'm now giving him the calming treat right before I get in bed (and I give her a regular cat treat so she doesn't feel cheated). For us, that seems to be very helpful. There are occasional blow-ups here and there but no more at night. (Except the one night I forgot to give the treat. Ay yi y!!!) I don't know if our girl cat is more sensitive because she's a calico. For now, I plan to continue with these treats for our boy cat at our bedtime.
