Great product, especially at the price
I could not be happier with this DVD storage tower. As my collection of DVDs, Blu-Rays, and Video Games has grown over the years, I had gotten to the point of storing far too many of these items in plastic storage bins in my closet. All too frequently I found myself having to sort through these bins to find something, or just not even bothering to look for any movies or games that I know I had but did not have the patience to go hunting for. I finally got fed up with this "system" (or lack thereof) and started to shop around for storage towers. I was shocked to find out how expensive they all seemed to be, and was worried that my closet full of green plastic bins would just be what I would have to deal with. Then I stumbled across this little beauty, and for well under $40 I could store almost 300 DVDs. I was impressed with the review ratings, and ordered immediately. As a Prime member, I got the product very quickly. Assembly was very simple. I am far from a "handy" type person (in fact my entire set of tools I own pretty much consist of a hammer, a philips and a flathead screwdriver, a tape measure, and a drill) but I was able to put this together by myself pretty quickly without a problem. After assembly, I excitedly filled it up right away with DVDs and Blu-Rays, and was shocked to find that I needed another. Once I started unloading those green plastic bins of movies, it never seemed to end...I didn't realize just how much stuff I had. So being that I was so pleased with the product, I ordered myself a second, got it a couple days later, and filled that one as well. The majority of my collection now has a happy home, and I have been able to claim a lot of my closet space back in the process as well. I uncovered a lot of old favorites, and even some movies and games that I had never even removed from the plastic wrap. I seriously cannot give enough praise to this product. It looks great, is very functional, and gives me easy access to all my physical media. Most importantly though, compared to the other similar products I was interested in, this one has the best price by quite a bit. I will probably order another one or two in the near future as well. Very highly recommended!

Great quality, good price.
I bought this from Amazon Warehouse Deals, and despite the description stating it was used and had cosmetic damage, what arrived was a brand-new, completely undamaged item in its original packaging. You need a hammer and a screwdriver for assembly, which is pretty standard on furniture like this. Putting the parts together is a breeze. It took me about 45 minutes, including unboxing all the pieces. The instructions were easy to follow. All the parts had holes drilled in the perfect locations, which isn't always true of this type of furniture. The hardest part was putting the rubber caps onto the metal pins that hold the shelves up. Nailing on the back is a little weird since the front of the item is curved, which makes it all rock side to side while you're hitting it, but it wasn't so much that it was a hindrance. Other reviewers have complained of flimsy pieces or too-wide shelves, but I didn't have either problem. The pieces were quite sturdy, the shelves fit snugly but not too tightly, and the whole thing has a solid feel to it. My cat regularly knocks over our dining room chairs and slides smaller furniture by jumping onto it, but she could take a wild leap onto this thing and it might twitch slightly. It seems perfectly stable. I filled the shelves with video games and DVD box sets, and there's not even slight bowing in the middle of the shelves. Even though it's heavy when filled, the plastic feet make it easy to move on wood floors, though I wouldn't trust it to not scrape the floor up a bit. One thing to be aware of is that this comes with six shelves, but you'll only be able to fit four if you're using it for DVDs/BluRays. I could tell just by looking at the stock photo of the item, but I know a lot of people don't check that closely. Even though you have only five shelves, you can fit a lot on them, so I didn't find it to be a problem. Overall, this is a fantastic piece. Comparably-priced media shelving units were all either small, ugly, or both. This is a good, sturdy DVD shelf with a nice finish and a great price tag. If you're looking for something to hold all your DVDs/CDs/video games/similar media holding disclike thing, look no further.

Very good value & functionality.
I ordered this unit to replace a mish-mash of storage for my CDs. For the price, I was not expecting exquisite furniture, and that's not what this item is. But it is functional. reasonable sturdy, and within this price range, substantially superior to competitive products. I liked it enough to order a second one to accommodate the balance of items that the first alone did not hold [most of my CDs are long gone, but when I embarked on a project to re-rip the ones I cared about at full lossless quality, i ended up keeping/repurchasing several hundred]. A few comments for those considering this item: 1. It is quite dark in finish, but it is not black. It is that color sometimes referred to as espresso brown; fine for me, as it matches the bookcases on the opposite side of the room, but this is not what I think of when I see the word "cherry" in a color, regardless of the preceding adjective. The picture was fairly accurate. 2. Assembly can probably be done pretty easily in about 30 minutes, especially with two people. 3. it should be assembled on carpet, and someplace where movement won't cause scratching of the unit or the assembly surface. 4. The front edge is curved, which helps with stability when assembled, but is moderately challenging during assembly. A second person can help stabilize it, especially during the most difficult step. 5. The hardest part is getting the back panel tacked on square. The instructions advice you to square and even your margins. This is moderately challenging, because the back panel arrives folded and not as easy to lay square as say an unfolded back panel on an IKEA-style unit. But if you have done IKEA, you know this step. I do recommend you half-tack a couple of near-corner and center nails in to judge whether you have the back square. I found the panel covered the entirety of the back, with almost no edges exposed. This looks nice when finished. 6. The rubber sleeves for the shelf pegs are a nice touch. 7. The unit arrived very well packaged. Not one bit of shipping damage. The instructions are thorough, with real words on paper to accompany the pictures. All parts and some extras were included. the earthquake bracket is not optimized for optics, i.e., it is visible when installed. All in all, an excellent value, arguably 5 stars when considered in the value context, but definitely 4.

Looks great. Holds a lot of DVDs. Extremely easy to put together.
This is a very nice looking set of storage shelves. It's called cinnamon cherry, but it's not really red like you might expect from the cherry description. It's a nice, deep color and goes well with a darker color scheme or as an offset to lighter-colored wood furniture. If you have any experience assembling furniture like this, they've actually made some changes to the way you assemble cams that makes it even easier! While I'm not going to say you can assemble this with your eyes closed, I can tell you from personal experience that it can be put together by flashlight. :-) We had just started putting this together when a storm knocked out power to our street...and we finished assembly with me doing the (very easy) work part while my wife and daughter held flashlights for me to see by. Seriously, it does not get any easier than this. The design uses enough pins that the frame was almost perfectly square already, so there wasn't a lot of, "You push here and you pull there while I nail the back on to hold it square" like with a lot of this type of furniture. I'm really pleased with the quality. Pros: Looks great in our living room. Holds a lot of DVDs. Easy to assemble. The cam and pin assembly system on this shelving unit is the easiest I've ever used. Strong materials (yes, not as strong as, say, 3/4" plywood...but it doesn't have to be that strong, even if you're putting CDs on the shelves) Can be configure for storing CDs, DVD/Blu-ray, or a combination of them. Neutral: If you set the unit up for only storing DVD/Blu-ray, you'll have two shelves left over. I don't see that as a problem; it's much better than wanting to use it for storing lots of CDs and being short of shelves, and you can use the spares with some wall brackets to make a couple matching shelves above your DVDs for speakers or something. Cons: Not a single one that I can think of right now. If something happens down the road, I'll change/update here, but from what I've seen so far, I couldn't be happier. I have had people comment on this unit, and I've recommended it to them. So yes, I feel confident enough to tell friends and family to buy it. If you're looking for a storage unit for CDs and DVDs, this is the one I would recommend to you as well.

Geat buy & the shelf warping is easily solved.
For the price you honestly can not beat this. It's attractive, pretty sturdy (though you really want to secure it to a wall with the hardware Sauder gives you), & easy to build. We have over 463 DVD's & Blurays (movies & TV shows) & it holds our entire collection. Keep in mind we changed most of our DVD movie's cases to slim ones (just the Blurays, double disc & special editions are in their original cases) to be able to fit this many. The shelves will warp. I doubt any inexpensive wood Sauder used wouldn't warp. It's the nature of the slim cut of the shelf & the fact that movies & their cases are a lot heavier than you would think. I believe each shelf is rated for 5lbs with the top rated for 7lbs. We just relocated from another state & the heaviest 2 boxes we had were the ones with all the movies in, so trust us, a shelf full of movies weighs more than 5lbs. I solved this potential future problem by creating small blocks from some black poster board I had lying around & placing them on top of the movies in the middle of each shelf (except for the top one). You can't notice them unless you are really looking for them. If you have the tools a small block of snug fitting hard wood would be better. All in all a great product that we would highly recommend.

A good solution for storage of DVDs and CDs
The Multimedia Storage Tower was as advertised. Though the description says Sauder and the packaging says Sauder, the item appears to no longer be a Sauder product as all documentation that came with the tower was under a different name which I failed to keep handy for this review. The packaging was not as good as the previous packing by Sauder. This resulted in several wear marks on the cardboard backing of the unit. Fortunately, for me, the defects are hidden by the media on the shelving. I bought 6 units and every unit had damaged backing due to cheapened packaging by the manufacturer. This unit is made of particle board. As such, be prepared for the shelving to warp over time with the weight of media on the shelves. I stack these units 2 high, with the top unit turned upside down so that the tops of the two units match. I then screw everything together. I have them in a 2 x 3 configuration and fastened to the wall at the top with provided hardware. While these units can be assembled and located by one person, the task goes much faster and easier with two people. The instructions are fairly good and walk you through the assembly process. Expect to spend about 45 minutes assembling each unit. Basic tools such as a screw driver and hammer are all that you will need. The biggest challenge in assembly is tacking the cardboard backing on the back of the unit. This will require some finesse in order to ensure the backing is completely flat. These make excellent storage units for multi-media. I am using them for a very large DVD collection. The cartons as shipped are fairly heavy. For those stout of arm, this should not pose a problem. For older people and those less stout, you may need assistance in moving the packaged units. With the exception of the noted flaws in packaging and wear on the cardboard backing, Note that delivery is to your front door and no further. So be prepared to haul them in once they are delivered. I would recommend this shelving for anyone with a large CD or DVD collection.

I love these shelf units
I love these shelf units. They are attractive, easy to assemble (even for me, with minimal skills!). You just need a hammer and a phillips head screwdriver. I can assemble one of these in under an hour. I use them to shelve books, not DVDs or CDs. They take up much less space than the shelf units marketed as "book shelves." You just have to grab one of your tallest books and measure out where to place each shelf based on that. It does leave me with a couple of leftover shelves, so I suppose if one of them sags badly it will be easy enough to swap it out for one of the extras. It is lightweight - I can carry the box without help, and I can carry the assembled unit without help. (I'm a small woman, and I don't have a lot of upper body strength, so I try to buy only furniture I can lift and move myself - quite a challenge!) It actually holds more books than the shelf units I was using before which were larger and extended out into the room more. The Sauder unit is shallower, but taller and it just really helps me organize my books so that they aren't two layers thick. I can now see the books that I have, so I won't buy duplicates, and I can weed out much more easily without having to dump everything on the floor to see what I have. I live in a small, 1950s house and it is challenging to find furniture small enough to fit it, that is also practical for my needs (I have a pretty large collection of books). I have bought 5 of these already (4 of them from Amazon). I love them! NOTE: On a side note, the shrink wrap on the last one I received had some sort of gooey adhesive on it, that burned my skin. Please Amazon, do not use gooey chemical-burn-y stuff on your shrink wrap. Once I got the plastic off everything was fine. But beware the shrink wrap if you order one of these. Use gauntlets to remove the plastic. Don't let it touch your bare skin if you can help it.

overall, good, depending on how you use it.
This is a good product, for the price. A few things that I have noticed though. First, it is made out of particle or chip board. It is not regular wood. Because of this, do not expect high strength out of it, because they do not use high quality products when making it. It is find for basic things, like DVD's, but not for heavier things, like books. If you are planning on putting something on it, more like books, I would suggest you put something on it, to brace the shelves in the middle, for extra support, or the shelves will sag. and when I say brace, i mean, you could put something behind it, and then screw it in from the back, into the shelves, or if you have something that is the right height, you could just put something in the middle of the shelf, on all shelves, that would space the shelves in the middle, for extra support. either would work. Also, because this is not made out of high quality materials, I have found, that the ones that I have that are near my bathroom door, over time, did seem to sag a bit in the middle. Which I believe was helped due to the humidity that came in from the bathroom over time. What i do is, when they start sagging a bit too much for my taste, I just take everything off of the shelf, flip the shelf over, and then put everything back on. Over time, it just starts bending the opposite way. It does not happen very fast, but it does happen. the adjustable shelves, where it has the inserts about every inch, so you can adjust the shelves to the right height pretty easily, is nice. The color, and overall durability is OK. But considering the price, I think it is made pretty well. Is there better ones out there., Definitely.. But are you going to find them for under $100 for one this size.. Definitely not. so for the price, it is very well made.. Even so, it still is not top notch. Like for example, the back is just a thin piece of cardboard, with basically a sticker that looks like wood on top of it, and that is held on by tiny nails, just around the edge. It is try folded so you see the folds in the back too. If you pull the nails out, that hold the back on, they do come out fairly easily. No tools required. so do not expect a lot of durability out of the back. In the end, I would say, that considering the price, I think that it is very well made. As long as you are willing to make slight alterations to it, if you plan on putting heavy things on it, then you should be fine with it. I mainly use mine for DVD's, and have had mine up for years, and the most I have to do to mine, is about once a year or so, I flip the shelves over, because they start to sag a bit.. Not a lot, but by probably about 1/2" in the middle of the shelf.. But like I said, i partly blame that due to the humidity that comes out of the bathroom, that is close to where the shelves are used. Also, I dont use the feet on mine, So I can not say anything about them, good or bad. In the end, I can say that I would recommend this, because it looks pretty nice, does hold up decently to basic use, and for the price, is pretty cheap and well made for what it costs.

Nice unit
Looks good, easy to put together. However, the shelves have started to bow a bit under the weight of the DVDs.
