Reco Complete Guide to Clay Pot Cooking Cookbook

After getting a clay pot for cooking, I wanted some more recipes and a better idea how long and what temperature to cook different dishes. This hardcover book is great! Such a nice book for a little price. It contains all the information and instructions you need. Has a large number of recipes for various dishes. I will probably not cook a lot of these recipes exactly as listed, but with a change in herbs/spices or vegetables, it gives you the information needed. I seldom go exactly by a recipe anyway and often combine several. The book has pictures for steps and finished recipe. Gives step by step instructions. It offers several recipes for all kinds of meat, seafood, breads and desserts. Also delivered promptly. Well worth the small price! Highly recommended! I was unable to find a variety of recipes on the internet for the clay pot.

I recently started using this and the advice is good for new clay pot owners. Good information on use and cleaning it.

It's taken me awhile before I could write this review as I had to try some of the recipes out. They all came off just fine and the book is very straight forward and practical and even has photos for we 'visual' learners. Even if you just put a whole chicken (cleaned inside please) or a small roast with or without potatoes, carrots and onions in it, dip the top in water before you cook you will have a better dinner than most restaurants. These pots are SO worth it. Just don't do what I did and start heating up the oven before you've put the food in your claypot and the claypot into the oven. It will break and you will cry ... especially whenever you reach in the cabinet for your beloved pot and it's not there and you use a metal one instead and the food does NOT cook up well and sticks to the side of the pan and is a bugger to clean out afterwards.

This is an outstanding cookbook. After carefully reading reviews on all clay pot books offered here, I settled on this one. Excellent choice! Dozens of great recipes- some simple some more "fancy" but all just as easy. Each page comes with simple instructions and 3 photos showing various stages of each recipe, as well as the main final product photo. It also includes detailed care and maintenance instructions for clay pots, which was sorely lacking with my Rompertopf purchase. For such a thin book, it is packed with info. If you only have one clay pot cookbook, this should be it! It really is all you need.
