Swan 2 Slice Nordic Style Toaster, White

It heats well and looks very nice. However it’s a bit hard to remove the bread afterwards.

We bought this to replace our old SMEG one. This one looks nice and as far as toasting, it works, however there are a couple of issues. The first being it's unbalanced, so when you press the lever down the other end of the toaster lifts up. Not the end of the world but I probably just need to calibrate myself on how hard to press it down. The second issue is something I can't really control. The cage inside has gaps which are larger than our previous toaster, hence when our kids are putting Pop Tarts in they have a tendency to find the gap and get stuck. I had to completely mash up a Pop Tart the other night just to get it out.

Perfect toast! Colour choice of toast works a treat. Reheat, great! Downside? Top and sides is a bit warm to the touch to get toast out. Once you know, ouch, you don’t do it again! A bit lightweight, so don’t be too heavy handed, as I was to start with. This toaster replaced a much loved but old and hence temperamental, Kenwood with high-rise facility which was great for warming up croissant, for eg. Having said that, a very satisfactory replacement purchase at a very good price. 😊

I bought 3 items in the Nordic range: toaster, kettle and microwave in 'cotton white'. I was surprised when they arrived separately, toaster came first, and straight away it looked like a 'second'. The box had been previously opened and torn- so I took a photo immediately- expecting worse to come. Indeed the surface of the white area was grubby and covered in dust and fluff. However, the toaster looked unused. I was able to wipe it clean with a damp cloth. I am keeping all three items as they will be adequate; but be aware - ALL the wood effect colours are different, and don't match at all! Very weird Swan- you really need to pay more attention to these details in your manufacture. Not bad for the price I paid- probably worth twenty quid.

With our new kitchen almost complete, and having had the same toaster since we got married 23 years ago, we felt perhaps it was time….. Having decided to go largely by shape and colour (as a toaster is a toaster after all), and having chosen the kettle of this brand, we opted for its partner on the kitchen counter. All appears well thus far, bar one thing. Because it’s on little legs (as the cable retainer is underneath), when you press the handle down, you must make sure you hold the opposite end down, otherwise the toaster tilts sideways, as in the short video. Takes you by surprise at first but once you know……

We returned ours same day. It’s a beautiful looking toaster, we have the swan Nordic microwave and love it as it’s pretty and compact. I assumed the toaster would be the same, sadly it seems unnecessarily large. The body of it is just extra extra chonky. We have a kitchen with limited counter space and have a Russell Hobbs Stainless steel 2 slice and it’s much more compact and slim line. If you have lots of space to spare, go for it, otherwise, for compact kitchens it’s worth getting a different model.
