Works great for small rooms, and much better performance than a portable AC unit
We do not have central AC and so previously were relying on portable AC units. This went on sale recently so decided to just try this basic unit for a small room we had. The window is not large but this AC unit was able to fit. Cooling performance is significantly better than the portable AC unit. The prior 8000btu LG portable single-hose AC unit would struggle to take the temperature down from indoor 80-81 to 75-76. With the "temperature" between 5-7, I think the room gets down to 70-75 easily. Installation was easier than expected. It only weighs 35 lbs so I feel confident with the provided brackets that it will stay in place and won't mind taking it out in the winter. I do miss some smarter features like setting a timer, or a sleep mode to slowly let the temp rise while sleeping, but for the cost this was well worth it and I plan to just put it on a smart plug. It is not the quietest AC unit and I would say slightly quieter than the portable unit we had when directly in front of the unit. However with our bed not directly in front of the window, it's quieter around the sides since the compressor and fans are mostly outside. Great performance overall especially for the price! We are super happy with this.

Excellent cooling option for a small apartment
Very effective air conditioner cool off 300 ft area quite nicely quiet efficient easy to care for I do recommend taking it out and storing it properly and making sure to clean the filters for winter and put it on top of something absorbent because I found that there was water head accumulating inside the case

Impressively Quiet and Effective, With One Minor Flaw
This window AC is a fantastic find for the price! It's incredibly quiet, and perfect for a bedroom. For me, it's been a game-changer in my home office. I'm on calls all day, and not a single person has mentioned hearing it, which was a constant issue with my old unit. Performance wise, it cools my office down in no time and holds the set temperature perfectly. It can quickly be set with the included remote, however I do wish the remote had a screen of it's own. It was super easy to install though! The only small annoyance is the washable filter. While it slides out from the side, getting it back in is a challenge. It always seems to catch on something near the end of the track, causing the filter to bend if you're not careful. Honestly, besides that one little quirk, this is a great AC that gets the job done.

Perfect for my Airbnb room, works great and guests love it
Had this AC for about 23 days now and it’s been solid. I got it for a 150 to 200 square foot Airbnb guest bedroom and it’s been doing exactly what I needed. Guests keep saying how comfortable the room feels and a couple even mentioned they sleep better with the hum. It’s not loud, just a low steady sound that kinda helps you relax. It arrived right when the weather started getting hot, so it came in clutch. Set up was simple and it fit in the window just fine. Took maybe 20 to 30 minutes total. Once it’s running, it cools the space down quick and keeps it steady without freezing the room out. One of my favorite things is the analog controls. No digital buttons or fancy screens. Just old-school knobs that feel like they’ll last longer. The touch panel stuff on other units always seems to glitch after a while. This one feels like it’ll hold up. Noise-wise, it’s totally reasonable. Not too loud, not silent either. Just a nice background hum. Perfect for sleeping or just chilling in the room. So far it’s done the job really well and kept guests happy, which is what matters most to me. If anything changes I’ll come back and update, but for now, I’m happy with it.

Noisy, well packaged but upside down in Amazon box, damaged and must splash water for max cooling
Ordered unit from Amazon on 7-30-24. Got it on 8-2-24. Fast. Is it a 5000 btu, 5100 btu or a 5050 btu as the placard says? It came in a very well packaged box inside of an Amazon box that was too big and had no packing to keep the A/C box from moving around. The A/C box was marked with an "UP" arrow, this side up, but was upside down in the Amazon box. I unpacked it, righted it and waited 24 hours to see if it cooled before installing it in the window. It ran, got cold, but the compressor has a whine one can hear for a long distance. It had been dropped on the left rear corner bending it and jarring a screw loose in the top center of the unit housing. Good thing it had been packaged well in its box or the damage could have been worse. The best I can tell the coils, lines, fan blades and such are not making contact with the case. After a bit of running on low cool, the unit started a pinging noise as described in the manual. It was water rising in the pan and the condenser fan was picking it up and splashing it against the right side of the louvers and outside the unit. The manual states there is a small rubber plug under the unit. Removing the plug will drain the pan of water stopping the pinging and splatter. However, the unit will not be as efficient. It won't cool as well, because the splatter helps cool the condenser coil. If that is true, the compressor should also run cooler with the splatter, but its life span might be shorter by removing the plug. This is not the way to design a cooling system. If your house is wood siding, that splatter will take a toll on it. The unit has cooling louvers to direct the cool air right and left. There is no means to direct the cool air up away from the incoming warmer air below the cool air vent. I am using this unit as climate control for a storage room. I'm not pointing fingers, but Amazon could have labeled "Fragile, This Side Up" on its box and put in packing to keep the A/C box from moving around. Why did I buy this unit? The price was low, and I have a GE 5050 K btu unit made in 2013 that is still running fine. Manufactures were using a non-flammable, R22 or the like back then and the units didn't need water splash to help them cool properly. I should have spent a few more dollars and got better unit. Except for the above, the unit is fine for my purpose. I would not want it in a bedroom or any lived in space. If it lasts a season or two, I'll be surprised. Just my two cents.

Helped my neighbor out!!! - Great Unit - for its size
We had central ac in our home- We actually bought this as a back up -why? We used to lose power a lot 3 times for multiple days - so we had purchased a few of those Lipo 4 power supplies- and I had a small generator- anyway the idea was buy a small air conditioner and cool one room like the bedroom if power went out - of course it never went out for multiple days since we bought the unit. So we never used it in our home. However- Our neighbor had a 20,000 btu unit that cooled their downstairs area installed in the wall that went bad - it was under warranty and for some reason it couldn’t be repaired- and a replacement unit would not fit - so there was a delay in this process. So being a nice neighbor I offered them this unit to put in the living room window till things were fixed etc. This unit did an unbelievable job keeping the living room and adjoining kitchen area cool in June/July/August in NJ by the way. They had a small house but that area was much larger than a 5000 btu should handle but it did. - We actually ended up selling our house and moving before our neighbors sorted out their repairs on the old unit - so we never asked me it back. Anyway the bottom line is I am not an air conditioner expert - but I recommend this one !!

It cools well, but the design is horrible... almost seems designed to fail.
I had a buddy help me install it, as the window kit didn't fit very well into the window and we had to make some "adjustments", due to the instructions not being very helpful. This is a basic unit, no bells 'n whistles. It has dials, which I thought would help my mom understand versus digital, but the resistance is very tough to twist the dials, not for an elderly person. On the high fan settings, it's very loud and here's the rub of it all.... the unit is designed to sit flat for some unbelievably bad reason. That makes the fan blades rub against the casing, making the sound worse. You need to start the fan on high to create resistance for an ongoing low setting. You need to tip it at least a -10° angle to allow the condensation (water) to run out of the unit. It has a tray that keeps the water in, too. It almost seems like it's designed to fail, keeping water in to short out circuits. My buddy and I made it work, but you definitely need two people to install it to do so. Now, the good things... It went into a small bedroom and it cools it down from a very hot room to a cool room in a couple of hours with the door closed. My mom is a sound sleeper, so thankfully the sound doesn't keep her from sleeping. I saved a whopping $28 for picking the black color. I gave it four stars for the bad design, not allowing the condensation to leave the unit. If you don't want it to fail quickly, you're going to HAVE to tip it to allow the condensation to run out or maybe you can find a tray to fit it without a containing lip. That's just how it is, you can't change physics.
