No touch!
We have chefs and cooks and all kinds of small children who I like to call Disease Vectors, though they disagree, and I really like the idea of a touchless faucet. I have touchless soaps and touchless towels and... the important thing is to be able to clean up easily while cooking and also, now while coming in the house. My kitchen sink is just past the laundry room and an easy place to clean up. being able to do a touchless wash makes all the difference in this time of Covid-19. Kohler is always an easy install. Always elegant. Always first class.

Kohler stands behind their products
This Kohler faucet replaced a 7-year old nearly identical faucet that began to fail. The touchless sensor began failing. I replaced the control valve under the sink but that did not work. So the failure was in the sensor in the faucet body which is not serviceable. But... Kohler stands behind their product. I had already contacted Kohler and talked to an actual real person at Kohler and after troubleshooting they told me they would buy me a new faucet. I could either order from them or another place and get refunded. Wow, that is standing behind your product. So I order from Amazon because the delivery was really fast and I had the new faucet replaced the next day. What a deal. We really like the touchless on/off feature. It works just with a quick swipe of your hands. Often your hands are wet and if you have to touch the handle it is just keeping that spot and your countertop wet. This is quick and effective. Yes it is expensive, but we use the faucet many times a day every day. The water can also be controlled with the handle on the base of the faucet. And there is an automatic feature that will shut the water off after a certain time if you have not already shut it off. I guess this may be to keep it running if kids turned it on, or your cat figured out how to get a drink. It does have a manual bypass if the power goes out. There is a white knob on the side of the control box you can turn. You might need some pliers. But you can turn this until a few turns and the manual handle will turn the water on/off. As long as Kholer stands behind their products like this, I will keep buying Kohler products and I will stand behind them. So hard to find companies that are this way. Maybe this is built into the price, but it seems you get what you pay for.

Failed to work right out of the box
Super expensive ($633 with tax - what was I thinking) and it failed to work. At all. It was 100% installed correctly. The install is not that hard. And the electronics have four unique plugs that you must plug in. So you can't mess it up. It was definitely getting power from the AC. But the faucet was dead. No response and no water. The manual had a trouble shooting section but this symptom (zero functionality) was not on the list. It has a manual override for when there's no power. Guess what! That also failed. There was barely a trickle (yes the valves were fully open). My theory is that some part of the electronics was defective or there was a bad wire or something. The Kohler factory quality control must be a joke to allow this lemon to escape the factory. And the price for this fiasco???!!! Holy XXXX!!! Since I spoiled the previous faucet when I removed it, I had to go to Home Depot and get something else. All in all, I highly recommend avoiding this faucet and probably any touchless design with electronics, batteries and AC, etc. They always go bad. Your electricity goes off. Or the batteries corrode. And then what? Whereas a regular basic faucet is always consistent. Nothing electric to fail. And way cheaper. If you get one of these anyway, well... good luck. I guess most off them work.
