Assistance for your student.
This workbook includes the basics and some incidentals that help students to understand, comprehend and remember specifics about the units presented. An excellent choice for a student on the beginning fifth grade level.

Good basic overview of American history for middle- grade kids
I homeschool, and we were using another curriculum for American history that only goes as far as the Civil War and often goes too much in depth on random topics and people. We used that curriculum only for the revolutionary era, then switched to this book. I wanted a curriculum that gives a good overview of ALL of American history up to modern times, something that could be done quickly and then supplemented with other, more interesting resources for kids, like videos and books. This fit the bill for me!
