Stohlquist Keeper Fishing Life Jacket - PFD

Purchased for kayak fishing. My previous PFD had upper-half back floatation that made lumbar support impossible while peddling. Thus, I’d get so sore after an hour, I’d have to take it off and hang on back of the seat. I researched numerous PFDs and think only an inflatable suspenders type would be more comfortable. However, with the higher possibility of overturning in a kayak, the constant flotation safety along with comfortable back made this my choice. I’ve since noted via YouTube that Headwaters Kayak in Lodi, CA have given this PDF an excellent review. Not quite the same reason as I’ve given, but good to know about the professional validation along with being an excellent choice for me.Why not 5 stars? Need a year or more time on the water with it.

I usually don't review products not yet used for their intended purpose, however, I have worn this PFD all day on several multi-day river trips, just not had the need for it to save my life, yet! I'm confident that it will and when it does, I'll rate it seven stars. From my experience I consider it an Awesome PFD! Nice snug fit, but comfortable for all day wear. Large arm holes for paddling. The back panel is perfect for the high back seat on my fishing kayak. Much more comfortable than my previous PFD, which had a mesh back low and a thick flotation pad up high on the back - with this design the PFD was always up around my ears and damaging the top of my seat. The Stohlquist has a great fit adjustment system, well sized, accessible pockets and excellent zippers. Pockets work well for small tackle boxes when I'm wading & fishing or when fishing from the kayak on forgiving waters. On solo (don't try this at home kids) multi-day river trips, I use the pockets to carry the ten essentials with me for the unfortunate occurrence when a strainer takes my beloved Jackson Coosa and leaves me alone and on foot in the backwoods for a few days.Only one wish...I wish it had quick release belt. YAK ON! ps...any PFD you are wearing is better than the one laying on the deck of the boat!

Really nice and straightforward vest with no gimmicky unusable stuff. I like the back, nothing attached to it, its smooth and padded. I hope I never have to use it in an emergency situation but this vest feels like it was designed from the outset to be a first rate PFD.

Excellent product, I bought the bright yellow for visibility if I ever end up in the water while kayak lake fishing, true to size so if you are an XL buy an XL. Not for open ocean waters as this is a type III vest.

Lightweight and very comfortable. The support across the back is excellent. There are plenty of pockets.

This jacket was everything I dreamed of when it comes to a fishing oriented PFD. It's lightweight and dries quickly after its wet. The pockets are easily accessible by both hands. Small orange reflectors on the front as a little visibility to the jacket. Overall a great purchase, Stolquist makes a great product.

I have been using this for several months now and I am extremely happy! It fits well, is extremely comfortable.
