Great inexpensive product you can quickly install to keep your tailgate from slamming down on older trucks. I purchased one for a 2011 GMC Sierra and bought a second one for a 2012 GMC Sierra. Works well and the hydraulic ram does not hit anything when using. Paper directions aren't the greatest but you can figure it out, a quick 2 minute installation video would be great.

Works great. Easy to install. Don't buy two, it works best with just one on the drive side. I installed two and had two issues. First, the tail gate went down too slow and didn't open all the way unless I pushed it down the last 25%. The main issue with having one on the passenger side was that as the tailgate opened, it would push away and start to come off. I popped the second one off and have it for when the other one fails. So, I would definitely recommend getting one of these and installing it on the driver side, which is what the company expect you to do. The mounting bracket is designed for the passenger side. The only reason I bought two was some reviews I read mentioned it. You only need one. Works great.

Works as described but the instructions are a little unclear on the fact that the screw and washers that come inserted in the blind nut is actually the set tool for the blind nut and is not used after installation. Quick 10 minute install.

I have used other brands on pickups before but this was by far the easiest to install. Just a few minutes and I had it on my cousins truck. We will let you know how it lasts!

I added a rear camera to my truck, but after my tailgate fell down hard, it messed up the camera system. After replacing the camera, I figured that adding a tailgate assist might help slow it down to prevent damage to the camera. After installing the assist kit, it works wonderfully! My kids even appreciate that I don’t have to slam the tailgate anymore.

Arrived on time and well packaged. Just like other reviewers, this fit my 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche perfectly. The “Blind Nut Tool” is used to insert the blind nut into the tailgate and then only used to tighten the nut. It is then removed and discarded. When you finally snap the piston on, the manual states to snap the top in first then lift tailgate and snap the bottom in. I would recommend doing it in reverse as you have more room to do the top. Also the installation manual is very small and the pictures are difficult to see. Wasn’t till I finished the install that I realized there was a link to an online manual that you can blowup and pictures are in color.

Very easy install with basic tools. Works really well as it should. I broke it due to loading a bunch of wood on the tailgate closed and opening it so don’t do that and it will last. Buying another to replace the shock for sure.
