Try it for dogs diagnosed with congestive heart failure
I read a study of curcumin being given to mice with cardiomegaly as part of congestive heart failure and the curcumin REVERSED the cardiomegaly. It will take the usual forever for them to finally get the human trials done and proper dosages established. In the meantime, my little miniature pinscher dog was given less than a month to live as his heart was so enlarged it had filled his upper chest. He also was drowning with fluid in his lungs. He had the terrible constant congestive heart failure cough as well. As there is really no treatment besides diuretics, I researched curcumin, found out that in most cases it relieves gastric problems (which he also had) as long as the dosage isn't more than it should be, and that Doctors Best Curcumin with BioPerine was the best product out there for a supplement. I had no idea of dosage, and started giving my 4 pound dog (miniature pinscher) 5 capsules a day mixed in with his wet dog food. I gradually raised it to 7 capsules with no ill effects. It has a mild peppery taste, but for the most part older dogs can't smell or taste food well anyway, so he liked me adding a little bit more spice to his food. It took a month, but his cough gradually subsided and then went away. A year went by. I ran out of money and stopped giving him the curcumin. There was a "grace period: of about 2 months and then the cough came back. I thought I'd just about killed him and there would be no more reversals. Wrong. Restarting the pills worked the same as the first time. Same thing happened the next year when I stopped the curcumin. The following 2 years as well. My dog will be 17 in one month. He has lived FOUR YEARS after being in the last stages of congestive heart failure. For those who need tangible proof, the best I can give you is that the dog's name is Bruno, a miniature pinscher, his vet is Dr. Wishnack in Poway Animal Emergency Hospital, and I have the four year old x-rays that show how bad he was. He was brought in to them on New Years Eve four years ago, totally limp in my arms. They brought him back that night, but the prognosis was he'd be gone sometime soon within the month. I have not gotten new x-rays to see what the internal physical changes are because I don't have the money. But I have everyone in my household as well as visiting family and friends who have seen the visible proof over four years that the congestive heart failure symptoms disappear when my dog is on a regular schedule of curcumin, and that they slowly come back when I stop giving it to him. I don't know what the dosage would be for other dogs or for humans for that matter. My trial and error method for dosing him was to see how much I could give him without gastric upset. He's 4 pounds and he takes seven capsules emptied into his food. I don't know if he could take less with the same effect, but I don't want to jinx it so I'll continue giving him the seven capsules. There doesn't seem to be any listed severe side effects from it, other than too much will give them a tummy ache, and there will be bright yellow poop.that can stain stuff. I've not seen any side effects from it with Bruno. In fact, the curcumin has another benefit. He always had gastric problems. In the x-rays he's had over the years, his stomach was always extended with a lot of gas, and when he ate the gas literally would be pushed out while food was coming in. With the curcumin, that doesn't happen. The only time the excess gas starts coming back is when the curcumin is stopped. His appetite was bad before, probably because of gas pain, and he was always trying to eat grass. Now he has a hearty appetite, and it seems like there are no gastric problems at all. Anyways. It works on mice. It works on a dog. Maybe it will also work on a human. That I can't tell you because I don't have any human "guinea pigs" to try it on. But I can tell you that if your dog has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, put them on the Doctor's Best curcumin with BioPerine.

One of the better catagory products at a great price
We've used several different curcumin products over the last year for our 9 and half year old 100lb Malamute. She was starting to slow down, and began to display pain getting up and down and was tender to the touch on her hips. We'd been giving her 2 Resources Pain plus twice a day which seem to work really well, but it had a side effect of glazing her eyes a bit, and was only masking the pain so she didn't feel it. We started her on a 18% curcuminoid capsule from PURE, and was showing improvements. I think their product is good, but we didn't need to pay for additional fats for the uptake, as we were already supplementing with Arctic Paws salmon oil. We switched up to the NOW brand ,which was in the high 80% range, and observed improvements within DAYS. After doing a little more research, and not being able to find NOW locally anymore, we switched to this brand a few months ago and couldn't be happier. She is completely off the Pain Plus (which is still in the cupboard), we stepped down the dosages as we noticed mobility and gait improvements, and acts like a puppy even after 4-5 mile hikes or urban adventures. We go to a holistic vet, and even she is borderline shocked at the improvement. We were told by the vet a year ago that we should be prepared to have our Mal on pain pills for the rest of her life. In case you are wondering: we have fed this dog a grain free, raw meat, veggie, and goat yogurt diet for 8 years, and did not adjust food intake during this period. Word of warning- seems to increase canine metabolic rate, my Mal has dropped about 5 lbs and her appetite has increased significantly, have done checks, no worms or bad gut bacteria. Pros- great price for what appears to be a really powerful anti-inflammatory. Cons- I didn't order it sooner, and I now have a much more vociferous advocate for snack and exercise time!

Works great, worth every cent, be patient
My MD doctor recommended this for knee pain. She said it’ll take 6-8 weeks to work. She was correct! I went from limping to walking with no pain at all. I am not taking any prescriptions. Just this. I take 2 per day in the morning with breakfast. The capsules are small and easy to swallow. There are no side effects that I’ve noticed. I did run out for a week and my pain started to return. So I signed up for a subscription and I don’t run out anymore. I thought the price was high. But it’s worth every penny. I highly recommend this product if you have sore knees. I imagine it helps with other painful joints as well.

great for inflammation
I recently tried this High Absorption Curcumin from Turmeric Root supplement and I am pleased with the results. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric and is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The supplement I used is formulated to increase the absorption and effectiveness of curcumin in the body. I noticed a significant improvement in my joint pain and overall inflammation in my body after taking the supplement for a few weeks. I also noticed that my skin was clearer and had a healthier glow. The supplement is easy to take, it comes in capsule form and is easy to swallow. Overall, I would recommend this supplement to anyone looking to improve their joint health and reduce inflammation in the body. It's a great value for the price and it's definitely worth trying. It's also a great option for those who are looking for a supplement that is non-GMO and gluten-free.

Beware of swelling and Enbrel-like side effects
I wanted to report a severe case of edema - painful swelling of my lower legs after taking four 500 mg tablets over a 24 hour period. This may be a healing reaction but it hasn't subsided after seven days. It's also caused my skin to abrade, and even tear, when I use a wash cloth. I have psoriasis and have had chemo and immunotherapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia, now under control. I've had edema before - after chemo, rituxan and even UVB light therapy. But this was the worst. Its swiftness and intensity surprised me. A reminder that curcumin augmented with piperine is an anti-TNF (tumor necrosis factor) agent, a poor man's Enbrel, no matter how well intended as an alternatives therapy. Enbrel reports that edema is a persistent reaction for 2.2% of users. I like that this stuff pulverizes (turn to powder) psoriasis scale. On the other hand, I feel ill-served not to have been forewarned of possible side effects. Bcz we're not talking about a spice. Check out Enbrel or PubMed for the full range of potential side effects. Takeaway: get started with some caution. 7/3/13: I waited a week for the edema to subside and tried curcumin again. This time only minor swelling and subsequently no averse reactions, even at 2500 mg a day. Appears to be helping; coupled with Dovonex I've seen 30-40% reduction in psoriasis intensity and scaling. In fact, no scaling to speak of and I've enter the phase of trying to reduce the skin discoloration that psoriasis leaves behind. 7/27/13: This is now the single most valuable component of my psoriasis regimen. I've had NO scaling, NO itching and NO need to pick my skin in the last three weeks. My psoriasis now is extensive skin discoloration but it's in a stable state that allows topical agents to be maximally effective. I've gained five pounds. 11/13/13: Stopped taking curcumin three months ago. Psoriasis is 75% cleared. Gained another FIFTEEN pounds!!! 1/15/14: Original psoriasis 95% cleared. Now have 150 new spots covering 4% of my body. Gained a total of 20 pounds. Starting to take a 2000 mgs of curcumin a day with minimal effect on the psoriasis directly. However I've been able to use UVB light therapy much more effectively than before using curcumin. I've used UVB without the wild itching that light exposure caused. Previously after using UVB I had to cover myself in vaseline; post curcumin I've had no discomfort with UVB therapy, and more effectiveness, though I've haven't yet built up to long exposure times.

Seems to be working great. Post workouts
These are great! I’ve been taking these for a few weeks now after strength training workouts along with magnesium supplements in the evening and I feel so much better. They’re no bigger than any other vitamin/supplement and things to calm inflammation in my legs after tough workouts.
