Pictures are all black and white, therefore uninviting for young readers. Price is expensive also.

Grabbed this before a family road trip since my nephew was between him and his sister waiting for their appointments, and one kid without a phone in a waiting room for three hours is a recipe for chaos. He ended up flipping through the whole thing twice and asking to bring it home instead of leaving it in the car. The flip book format is genuinely clever, the pages animate a little scene as you fan through them, which is a nice change from just static pictures in a normal book. Content itself is packed with enough Pokemon to keep a kid who's really into it engaged for a long stretch without repeating. Build quality on the pages feels sturdy enough for actual kid handling, no immediate tearing or bent corners after a fair amount of flipping and re-flipping in one sitting. Size is compact too, easily fits in a bag or glove box for exactly this kind of situation, waiting rooms, car rides, anywhere you need something low effort to keep a kid occupied. This one earned its keep during a waiting room stretch that could've gone a lot worse without it.
