Bought this hoping to place this in the cloud on Amazon Music, but unfortunately, I can't. Still, this album is a gem! Brings back great memories and the music stands the test of time!

Old love never rust !!

I love their albums from the 1970s, especially their first American release, and this recent live album is a great example of these wonderful musicians. Long live Kokomo!

Take me back in time... great then on vinyl, fun today, too!

Very Good !!!!!!!!!

I actually bought this to get one song, which I used to do in a band back in the 80's. Overall, the discs aren't too bad. But I wouldn't have bought them for any other reason than to get that one song. I am pleased to now have this song in my collection.

I just like that song , I can’t understand it hard to find .

This 2CD-set from BGO Records, an excellent replacement for our much-loved and totally overplayed vinyl LPs, celebrates a great band at the height of its powers. The first two studio albums are included here in their entirety, digitally re-mastered, one CD for each album, both brilliant and yet quite different in so many ways. The BGO package comes with a whole host of photos, alternative cover illustration for the second album 'Rise and Shine' and some great liner notes written by John Tobler. All-in-all, it's a great production. Thoroughly recommended especially if you're an RnB, soul and funk fan (Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye ...) This CD is all the more important given the fact that the band have announced they'll be getting back together for some 'live' dates in and around London and the South East in August 2014.

『kokomo』といえばビーチ・ボーイズを思い浮かべる人が多いだろうが、私はコレ。 UKのファンク・バンド『Kokomo』だが、ファーストとセカンドのお得な２in１が出ている。 このグループはTHE ARRIVALの男女混合ヴォーカリスト４人にTHE GREASE BANDから２人、さらにKing Crimsonからメル・コリンズ（UKのデヴィッド・サンボーンと呼ばれているらしい。w）他１０名の大所帯バンドだ。 メンバーは次の通り TONY O'MALLEY（Vo, key)、FRANK COLLINS（Vo)、DYAN BIRCH（Vo)、PADDIE McHUGH（Vo) NEIL HUBBARD(Vo)、ALAN SPENNER（Vo,B)、MEL COLLINS（Sax,Fl)、JIM MULLEN（G) TERRY STANNARD(Dr)、JODY LINSCOTT（Conga） 上段の４人がTHE ARRIVALで、中段左２人がTHE GREASE BAND 彼らがデヴューした７５年当時、似たようなタイプのバンドにアベレージ・ホワイト・バンドが存在していたがアベレージほどの成功はおさめられなかった。 しかし、今の私はどちらかといえばKokomoの音の方が好みです。 乾いたギターと躍動するリズム、浮遊するエレピに絡むサックス、時折聴こえるフルートがまたいいんだ。 どう聴いても白人なのだが、ソウルフルなヴォーカルとぶ厚いコーラスがなかなかいい感じです。 ガリガリのファンクネスではなく、軽いファンクで、そこはかとなく漂う品の良さがなんとも私好みです。 ファンク・チューンの１「Kitty Sittin' Pretty」や７「Sweet Sugar Thing」もカッコいいのですが、ソウルフルな女性ヴォーカルのリードにトニーのダミ声と女性コーラスが絡むミディアム２「Anytime」、軽快なギターとエレピに導かれトニーと女性コーラスのコール＆レスポンスで聴かせるPOPな３「I'm Sorry Babe」あたりが私の好みです。 でも、何と言ってもアラン・スペナーの唯一のリード曲で限りなく美しい９「Angel」にとどめを刺す。

Le meilleur des albums de soul des années 70 est l'œuvre d'un groupe encore inconnu aujourd'hui, des blancs, britanniques de surcroît répondant au drôle de nom de Kokomo. Cette réédition de leurs deux albums est une bénédiction permettant de goûter surtout au premier album qui est un chef-d'œuvre intégral fumant de feeling par tous les pores. Deux anciens du groupe Grease (pas le film hein !), plusieurs chanteurs et chanteuses tous meilleurs les uns que les autres nous offrent une variété de compositions originales d'une soul intemporelle non marquée par un label américain. Rise and shine est un bon album mais le premier Kokomo c'est la merveille des merveilles : que des titres de premiers plans, luxueux, charmeurs, chaleureux et pourtant sans apprêt, culminant avec une reprise stupéfiante de I can't understand it de Bobby Womack qui vous laissera pantois même 40 ans plus tard. Indémodable, rayonnant… grand tout simplement ! Ne loupez pas ce trésor inépuisable !

Un clásico imprescindible del white funky. El primer disco, Kokomo, entre lo mejor que he escuchado del género. Todo un acierto su compra.
