Princeton tech makes a Quality product. It's NOT a cheap China knockoff. I use this all the time in work or play and it NEVER fails. I love on a sailboat full time and it's an essential tool for me. I've always bought the Remix model because having the red light is perfect to not ruin night vision. Apparently there are different models of Remix as the latest one I bought did NOT have a red light. My fault, should have read the discription better. Either way I will continue to buy head lights from Princeton Tec because they build a high quality product made right here in USA !

If you check PT's website you will notice the curious fact that on SPOT HIGH mode, the runtime is longer than on SPOT LOW, by a lot. I asked PT about this. Their answer: "unfortunately it is a side-effect of pulse width modulation (PWM), a method newer ultra-efficient surface-mount LEDs are forced to utilize to provide dimming or lower output levels. Modern non-regulated LEDs are at peak efficiency when at maximum output – PWM however rapidly strobes the LED hundreds of times every second to provide an illusion of a constant dimmed light. This flickering unfortunately causes higher power usage. We’re looking at new ways to introduce reduced output levels without using PWM, so hopefully we’ll be making low-mode runtimes better in the future!" Now you know.

This is the third head lamp I have bought. The first 2 were jokes! This has a very bright light and so far it is going strong after a considerable amount of usage with the original batteries. It's simple to use which matters. It's also very small. I carry it in my jacket pocket and use it when I need to see well. I heard this company has military contracts.

I purchase these periodically to provide my lab (all bat biologists) with a sturdy, light, comfortable, easy-to-use, bright headlamp. Excellent bang for the buck!
