Core Focus Grade 6: Test Practice for Common Core (Barron's Test Prep)

It is a good practice to review the state test at the end of the year. It is just the questions and the answers, no lessons included but it is very easy to navigate.

This past year I was looking for a book that help prepare me for what was going to be on the Common Core test. This book did just that! I wish I would have bought it earlier in the year and used it all year long. It has practice sheets and a practice test. The examples are relevant and has helpful tips and vocabulary throughout.

I bought my daughter this and the Grade 5 book, so that she could become familiar with the type of questions she will encounter on the Common Core test. She transitioned from private to public school and was nervous about what to expect. She is enjoying the practice and it is reducing her test anxiety.

I am a 6th grade teacher, teaching a self-contained classroom so I was looking for both ELA and Math review books. This one is great because it provides you with both. However, as an educator in NY, I felt like it wasn't quite as good at preparing students for the NY assessment as the NYReady books. I recommended this book to parents as a nice supplementary resource, while using the NYReady books as the main resource for classroom practice/practice tests. The answer keys included in this Barron's book have explanations as to why an answer is correct, which parents really appreciated.
