Good Smart Card reader, but watch out for the default Windows driver!
Works great after I manually installed the included driver. Running the driver installer did NOT fix anything in my case, since even after a reboot it was still using the (broken) default Windows driver. Once you get it installed correctly, the device appears in device manager as "Realtek USB Smart Card reader" and works well.

DOD CaC Reader
Works for on a HP laptop running Windows 10 perfectly.I travel for work and it gets bounced around quite a bit. After a trip it quit working about 2 weeks after I bouhght it. I requested a return and it was replaced for free. Good seller, product works.Best part - this was the cheapest CaC reader on Amazon in January 2026.

Turns my CAC login from a hassle into a breeze — mostly
I picked up this Saicoo CAC reader to access military sites from home, and it’s mostly been a win. Plug-and-play on Windows 10? Check. No driver headaches? Check. Sleek black design that makes my desk look more official? Double check. The reader works well for most secure logins—think AKO, OWA, DKO, and the like. It’s compact, easy to use, and gets the job done without any drama. However, there are a couple of caveats. Some users have reported issues with Mac compatibility, especially when using newer USB-C ports or certain browsers. Additionally, there have been concerns about the drivers containing malware, so I’d advise downloading them from trusted sources only and scanning them before installation. In summary, if you're looking for a budget-friendly CAC reader that does the job on Windows, this one fits the bill. Just be cautious with driver downloads and check compatibility if you're on a Mac.
