will any red connectors match up ? are they universal ? or do they have to be same brand an model ?

Based on reviews I read before buying them you cannot plug these into other brands.

.Will these fit 12 gauge wire? I need to put 2 12gauge in each terminal pin for fog lights.

These are WAY too big for 12 gauge wire; they are built for 2-4 ga but any size that can be pinched in the silver connectors will work. Richard Nielsen is wrong.

The pins can be inserted two ways. Which ways does the hook on the pin go, Toward the metal conatct or away. I am guessing away.

The hook goes toward the metal as it is the locking mechanism that locks it into the housing. Basically it's the exact opposite of what you were imagining but dont worry, if you mess up you can use a little screw driver or whatever else to depress the metal locking tab and remove the pin to reinsert the opposite way. I did several of these all at once on a multiple battery unit and accidentally did one or two of them backward and you can depress tab and pull them right out. But the hook has to catch on the metal tab. If you try and do it the way you were thinking the pins will not lock in place and can and will slide out every time you disconnect and because of the lock meant to grab the tab on the housing, you may never be able to disconnect these if the two locking ends get locked inside of the casing. I dont know, I dont want to try or find out.

Great Product!

Easy to use and very durable! I used mine to put a winch on a rack over the cab of my pickup truck so that I could haul a 150 pound boat. Works great! Amp load is about 20 amps (guessing) and I have had no problems so far. I'm ordering some for spares.

Absolutely thrilled.

I ordered this setup to hook and unhook the second battery in my Astro van.this way I can use the rear battery for my inverter to run my guitar amp etc. Imagine my face when I opened the package and realized this unit could be used on railroad, forklift,etc. If they can be used for a train yo7 know it's a great product.you can't have trains broken down all over the place with a bad battery connector. I will now be driving with complete confidence that I am safe and secure. Now my next task is to keep the battery behind my front seat from falling over and spilling acid on the floor and smelling like sulfuric acid. I'm sure it'll be easy because I have this fine battery connector.

GREAT!

These make connecting and disconnecting my RV batteries a snap. Well built and easy to install if you are somewhat mechanically and electrically inclined. I tinned the wires then filled the connectors 1/2 full with melted solder then soldered the wires into the connectors vs renting a heavy duty crimper.
