Can you use it on top of a freezer

Do not buy! Terrible!! The silver coating comes off on your clothes and sticks to your table (washer or freezer...)

Can I safely iron using the mat on a wooden table?

I had a plastic table cloth between the mat and the table and I don't remember if I was ironing, if it was hot from candle making, or if it was a glue gun but something created a small slightly almost melted spot on the table cloth. Table is okay. I put a towel as a buffer now but am kinda bummed cuz I loved the one step process of this Mat originally

Yes it is. It is a great item to have in the laundry room when you don't want to put up the ironing board. Also great for quick ironing. Really like this item and magnets hold it well.
